This food is boring and overpriced
by omnigirl
This is the only place that serves pasta and "American" food within walking distance of my house, so I want to like it, I really do. But it is completely overpriced and the quality is so undeniably mediocre that I have to remind myself that some things just aren't worth liking. Every time I stop by or bring a friend to Rocco's, the reaction to the meal is always a disinterested shrug, like, "I could make this at home.. with more flavor." For example, in a rare mood for some "American" fare, I ordered a $4.00 milkshake from this joint. It tasted like chocolate milk. In fact, I think Hershey's chocolate sauce is probably less than $4.00. Next time, I will just go that route and save myself the energy. You should, too
- Pros: range of menu, decor, location
- Cons: price, flavor, value
Great place!
by heatherjw76
We parked in the SOMA district at the end of our San Francisco/Sonoma
vacation and we were starving! We walked around to find a place that was
actually open and saw Rocco's from the corner. The food was fresh and really
tasty. The staff was friendly and prompt in seating us. The atmosphere was
different and fun. I bet they are busy during lunch!
- Pros: Food was great, nice staff, fun atmosphere
- Cons: none
Best Burger
by timtruett
Anyone who portends to vote for the Best Burger in SF without trying this place is uninformed. It is the best! Better than Moose's (though the ambience is much, much more down home), much better than Taylors (even in St. Helena), and far, far better than Clown Alley (very good), and Zuni (best restaurant in town). Really.
- Pros: Great "Joe's Cafe" style, WONDERFUL food, great people
- Cons: Folsome Street way south of Market

rocco's always good to me. i love their food... but i would avoid the grilled chicken for salad. not sure if they are different for pastas. if you want a good salad, i say go for the prawn ceasar. i really enjoy their Calamari Sauté Entree over Linguine.
and their bread is the best
- Pros: good food, nice atmosphere
- Cons: not enough waitresses
Fabulous breakfast/brunch place
by smiley507
Great place for brunch -- hardly ever have to wait for a table and the food is great. My faves: the crab cakes benedict (fantastic!) and their blueberry pancakes (makes my mouth water). They could figure out how to make better home fries though.
- Pros: great food, no wait
- Cons: service is mediocre
