San Francisco Bar At Its Best
by pigalle
This place is reminiscient of a shabby-chic red light district joint straight out of Paris. It is a great homespun spot to booze and schmooze, in an atmosphere that is attitude-free. Although the bar seems to cruise under the radar, it is also a hopping and energetic hot-spot. I've been there a lot, and the crowd is ever-changing and full of eccentric, creative and curious people. It is highly recommended to check it out.
- Pros: Hot Singles, 20 Beers On Tap, Pool and Foosball
Great local joint

Great local joint with friendly service and good drink deals, especially during happy hour. Definitely check it out.
Bohemians flock to this Hayes Valley beer-and-wine bar for local art and a friendly vibe.

The Scene
Nestled among rows of boutiques and restaurants, this gem is somewhat hidden--though it's no secret to arty types who pack it regularly. The front room features a handful of booths and round tables situated across from the petite bar, boasting a bevy of tap beers, wine and sake selections (served by the carafe or mixed into nouveau cocktails, like a plum-sake cosmo). The back room's crimson and burgundy walls are adorned with an abundance of rotating art. A host of seating options includes thrift-store couches.
The Draw
Hip, 20-somethings and graying beatniks feel at home here. Although the atmosphere can be quite lively, the music (often jazzy hip-hop) is typically played at just-right-for-conversation levels. If flirting with the hottie near the bar gets boring, there's always pool.
