Great vegetarian food - consistently!
by rocamewl
Awesome food every time! We keep going back for more, especially the spicy gourmet "chicken" and garlic "beef". We've never been disappointed and always leave stuffed.
- Pros: food
- Cons: no beer
Original Great, #2 on Clement is lousy
by arptro
Great food but I've tried the second on Clement and it bites. Food isn't as good, terrible and rude service.
Vegetarian and vegan diners trek to the Tenderloin for low-priced Asian fare.
by Gina Goff
In Short
This cavernous eatery, festooned with gold-gilded, ornate fixtures, domed ceilings and white-clothed tables, offers a sit-down atmosphere at takeout-joint prices. The menu--entirely void of meat, poultry, fish and egg products--offers a wide range of mock meat entrees, including soy lemon "chicken," tofu "lamb" clay pot and spicy Vietnamese-style soy "beef" stew. Vietnamese mushu crepes, Thai salads and bowls of pho are also available.

Golden Era is the best restaurant hands down in SF. I go there weekly and have not been disapointed yet. Its excellently priced the food is amazing and the service is great!I Love Golden Era!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Pros: Price, Service, Mints
- Cons: Location
Excellent!

This is the best value vegetarian eating in the city. The soups are very tasty, and healthy, and I would rec. the lemon chicken, eggplant clay pot, sweet and sour pork, among other dishes. The crepe appetiser is extremely tasty. They make the best mock meats I've tasted outside of Shanghai. And you can return to try their many dishes as it is affordable.
- Pros: great value, tasty mock meats, healthy

Great food, most of which is vegan. Quite a few soy meat products which always amazes me. Try the carmelized soy "chicken" with a vegan thai iced tea. A large menu with something for everyone. Good sized portions will leave you with lunch for the following day and a satisfied tummy. Reasonably priced, two can feast on twenty to thirty dollars.
- Pros: vegan thai iced tea, cheap

Best vegetarian restaurant in San Francisco
by mrgr1mm
If you're a vegetarian visiting SF, and you can only go to one vegetarian restaurant, skip Millennium and Greens and hit Golden Era in the Tenderloin. Those two fancy places are good, but the selection and menu at Golden Era is unbeatable. The Pineapple Salmon in particular is outstanding. The only reason I signed up at Citysearch was to give this restaurant a top rating. It's my favorite place in the city.
- Pros: reasonable prices, amazing food, pineapple salmon
- Cons: sullen servers, plain atmosphere
Great

this is by far my favourite vietnamese/chinese restaurant ever. the food is always excellent, served very quickly after it's ordered and reasonably priced. The service can be kind of iffy depending on who is working, but overall a badass restaraunt.
- Pros: Best Vegan Vietnamese
- Cons: No Parking
