The food was fairly good but they ran out of the two most popular things on the menu. It was really crowded, and the service was rather slow. The menu was a little boring, but the honey mustard was exquisite.

This place is great - low-key in ambience, and great veggie/vegan options that will even satisfy those that usuallly only "do meat." I like the neatloaf and I always enjoy the accompanying salad (although you can also get nan) and I often get a smoothie. The "chicken" in the burrito actually tastes like chicken! The prices are reasonable and the staff accomodating. Solo diners are welcome and do not feel conspicuous - it is a warm, all-inclusive, low-key dining experience. They are a a welcome presence in the Civic Center area - a zone I often find lacking in good, inexpensive, and thoughtful eateries.
Pros: Great Vegetarian/Vegan Food
Cons: Civic Center location is lackluster

I'm a vegetarian and my boyfriend is not. We both ordered an appetizer of the chicken nuggets, and they were amazing! He loves his meat, but he said these were even better than the real thing. They really were delicious! I would say these was the best. The rest of the food was good. Chocolate cake was super! And I loved our server. She was very helpful.
Pros: Great "chicken nuggets"
Cons: Lighting could use work

This place is a cool, relaxing blue oasis in the middle of a very busy, hectic area. It doesn't look that special from the outside, but the moment you walk in you feel the soothing atmosphere. The portions are extremely generous and the prices are very reasonable. They have wonderful, fresh salads and tasty wraps and sandwiches, but my favorite is the neatloaf. Great! They make their own (mostly vegan) desserts there too and they're great. They're pretty busy at lunchtime, so if you really want to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, try to go between 2 and 8 p.m. when they close.
Pros: Relaxed and friendly, generous servings, reasonable prices
Cons: Crowded at lunchtime

neat-loaf is the most original dish that no other veggie restaurant come close to it. the place brings a little serenity to the otherwise, rapidly changing neighborhood in downtown san francisco. and as a city dweller, i welcome their peaceful environment while serving hearty and healthy meals to us public. a great place to visit before an opera or ballet. i also think the staff in sari is beautiful. i repect their practice, and i appreciate their cuisine.
Pros: location, food, unlimited yogi tea!
Cons: funny hours on wkends

Great vegetarian selection with lots of vegan options...pizza, pasta, indian influenced dishes, salads, soups, not to mention all those vegetarian "meats". I didn't know what to order and went with what turned out to be a pretty packed falafel with a side of green (or could've had the pasta) salad. The menu rotates a bit in the area of soups and curries. Kind staff who are concerned about where you sit so as to accomodate all customers. And yes, as mentioned in the editorial profile, the walls are BRIGHT white and there's a tv in the back playing videos which you honestly won't be able to stop watching.
Pros: Large selection of options
Cons: BRIGHT white walls, stingy on water and napkins

Good selection of vegetarian and vegan food - pancakes and french toast are vegan. The orange french toast was chewy (great bread), the scrambled tofu was good. The regular toast was overdone. The prices here were low; the music was peaceful. The atmosphere is like a serene cafeteria. We ordered a vegan mango-peach-blueberry muffin, a slice of vegan strawberry-coconut cake, a vegan chocolate cookie, and a regular banana? cookie to go. The vegan mango-peach-blueberry muffin is the best muffin I've had, and unfortunately, I've had more than my fair share. It was moist, light, and delicious. The strawberry-coconut cake was good - it had pieces of fresh strawberry, but it didn't have enough coconut and the icing was too sweet. The other items were average. Be aware that they close for two weeks in April and in either Aug or Sep.
Pros: vegan pancakes/fr tst, bargain, clean bathrooms
Cons: traditional breakfast, no unique brkfst item

A friend and I went here today based on the "Best Of SF" for vegetarian food and I'm glad we did. The menu had so many things I wanted but we both went for the burrito with green salad as our side. Thier burrito is HUGE and very flavorful. All of the staff was very nice and pleasant. The only draw back is if you're looking for ambiance this isn't the place (sort of reminds me of a cafeteria). Great place...will definitly go back!
Pros: big menu for vegi's, friendly waitstaff
Cons: no ambiance

There are lots of good choices here, but the legendary Neat Loaf is reason #1 to head to Ananda Fuara. It's supremely tasty, with a nice tangy sauce and a tasty side of homemade mashed potatoes & mushroom gravy. I like this stuff better than the meat based version. The Neat Loaf sandwich is great too! Prices are higher than one would expect for the location and tacky decor, and the service is inconsistent, but it's worth it for the Loaf of the Gods.
Pros: Neat Loaf, Neat Loaf!, Neat Loaf!!
Cons: Kinda spendy, Tacky decor, Crummy location

Nothing organic. My girlfriend ordered some steamed veggies and they were overcooked and soggy. The Hummus dip had a brown covering on it and didn't taste fresh. I would not recommend this place.
Cons: , Nothing organic
