Attentive servers
by anesejatina
Good food, attentive service, and cozy outdoor setup. I had half of a nice eggplant sandwich with pesto sauce. Only note when ordering this sandwich is that the pesto sauce in side likes to seep through the slices of bread making the meal pretty messy.
They hold true to the Kid's menu... you have to be a child to order from it. Don't fret though; they have an Oh La La meal which includes half of a sandwich (from a list) with a vinaigrette salad or cup of soup.
I would definitely give this place another try.
Great burgers!
by mespo
WE loved our burgers, and the variety of burgers. So many choices! Burgers come with fries, salad and great low-key no nonsense service. Highly recommended if you're in the mood.
- Pros: Burger Variety
Good for Burgers. Avoid Fajitas.
by arizonacat
I have always enjoyed the hamburgers here and the breakfast has always worked too.
Stay away from the Fajitas- they are terrible. Very bland and the beef was like leather
while the rest of the ingredients tasted like they had been held in a steamer all day.
Service is mixed, some of the wait staff are super-friendly while others look bitter and can be brusque.
- Pros: Burgers, Breakfast, Free Coke refills
- Cons: Fajitas, Odd service
A Hayes Valley burger joint with a popular outdoor patio.
by Contributor
Neighborhood locals flock to this down-home favorite to enjoy breakfast items from a typical morning menu, or munch on specialty hamburgers and curly fries. The interior features a semi-exposed kitchen and smattering of simple tables, while the outdoor patio is just as basic, with a Royal Grounds Coffee outlet.
Sketchy service
by jdaniel
We live in Hayes Valley and frequent Flippers often for a good priced breakfast or burger, but the wait staff here is truly sketch.....sometimes chatty and polite, other times inappropriately intrusive and slow. You never know if you're going to get a quick and tasty meal, or if your flighty waiter is too busy attempting to be funny with other patrons to forget your fries under the heat lamp for 30 minutes. Great patio for a sunny, scene-free brunch. It's a shame they don't serve beer and wine. Stay clear of the BBQ versions of the burgers, a not-so-interesting sauce is ladeled all over your burger and it's all you can taste. The standard Mama and Papa flipper are the way to go. Salads are generous, but dressings are bland.
- Pros: Location, Value, Patio seating
- Cons: Inconsistent service

billed as a "gourmet hamburger place"
i expected a handmade thick patty, i got a premade overcooked generic burger that was also overpriced
- Cons: Hamburgers
Good...except for the burgers
by maggiemookie
Perhaps it's because we're from North Dakota, cow country, but the burgers were disappointing--they were dry and appeared pre-fab. Everything else was good, though. My father enjoyed his "breakfast for dinner," and my sister had a very tasty sandwich. The steak fries were excellent as well. I do have to admit that, although we weren't impressed with the actual burger patties, the variety of toppings available was impressive.
No Nonsense
by luchielu
When people say "gourmet" burgers .. I'm thinking the burger is going to end up being soggy with cheese or sauce. However, Flippers is a no nonsense burger (not foo-foo) kind of place. The burger patty was meaty and tasty with fresh fixin's . The toasted bun was a nice touch. Our waiter was pleasant too. Great burgers without the attitude.
Best 9-5

Flippers is a great place for Breakfast or Brunch on the weekends and for a simple burger and fries or a big salad......as for service, best to go during the day or early evening - after 7pm (open til 10pm) the staff is bored as hell.....Ask for Curby
- Pros: food, day service, salads
- Cons: evening service
Burger needs a beer
by CatReview
We stopped in after coming in from the airport. Had a good burger and steak fries. The outdoor patio is quite charming. They are missing one key ingredient...BEER. Nothing goes better with a good burger than a cold one. The price is right and the service was pretty good too. No need to head over the hill to Barney's unless you need that beer.
- Pros: good burgers, good service
- Cons: no beer, no heat laps
