User Reviews for Rocky Point Restaurant

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I live in Carmel and like to take my friends, family and out of town visitors to Rocky Point for either lunch or dinner. The drive takes me 20 minutes from home, it's beautiful along the coast, and I don't have to worry about parking. Lunch on the terrace is great, but the service can be slow (I don't care, I don't want to be rushed, and I like to enjoy my meal, the view and my company). For dinner I have a drink outside first, then get my window table and order the jumbo prawn dinner with salad and cheese bread and a huge potato at $38. I always ask for Dieter, he is a waiter who has been there for almost 40 years. They have floodlights and the whole bay is lit up when it gets dark outside. None of the other places on the coast have that!

Pros: view, food, ambience, parking

Cons: slow service

The view is breathtaking. The food was OK, but nothing special. Service was good. It is a little difficult to find only because there are no signs between Carmel and the restaurant and just when you ready to turn around because you think you missed it, it turns out you needed to go just a little further. Very clean and they do not rush you. Attire is very casual.

Pros: View, view, view

Cons: OK food, a bit expensive

Wonderful place for drinks and appetizers. Wonderful sunsets if not fogged in. Which happens regularly. Our waiter we request if he is there. Very attentive and really nice. Dinner is not even average. Kind of not good. Breakfast was the best meal we have had there. Girls from Texas

Pros: parking, ambience, service

Cons: food not worth the price.

The service at this restaurant prompted me to write a review - it was the WORST I have ever experienced. $160 for dinner (for 2), food was served cold and took 45 minutes to be delivered to our table by our rude waitress (took longer than that to even get her attention to order). I watched as they dusted off the table linens from the last guest before seating new guests - GROSS. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the view. I would not recommend eating there - you can enjoy the view by having a drink in the bar - instead of wasting your money on a bad meal with bad service. We emailed the manager Horst requesting a partial refund for the uncooked, cold steak they served us - and only received excuses "we were busy that night with regulars". I can understand a busy night - but to get this type of response from the manager indicates how this restaurant feels about customer satisfaction - THEY DO NOT CARE! There are MANY much nicer restaurants in Carmel for these prices!

Pros: View

Cons: Everything Else

One of the most beautiful places to view the Pacific Ocean and Bixby Bridge. Food is priced on the higher end, and is very average to below average in taste. Service is also very average. Since the views from this place are million dollar views, I suggest having a beer or cocktail and not waste your money on their food. (hard to ruin a beer or cocktail) Place is a "very" romantic spot and is worth going to for that resaon alone.

Pros: Million Dollar Views, Very Romantic, Outdoor Seating

Cons: Quality of Food, Service, Prices

We selected the Rocky Point restaurant for it's scenic view described on it's website. Unfortunately, we were fogged in the day we dined here and unable to see the sun set. My husband had selected this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary so I defintely was a little disappointed. The food was average but not memorable. Service was so so, but I noticed that the waiter at the table next to us was very attentive to his customers. I guess that was the luck of the draw.

Pros: nice view, casual dining

This was the best place to bring guests that had never been to California. The food was unique and delicious. While the atmosphere was casual and inviting, our waiter was very attentive and saw to it that the restaurant made a wonderful impression. Rocky Point Restaurant really is worthy of its view and location.
