There's nothing like a great hair-cut. It's taken me two years after having moved to San Francisco from South Africa two years ago, to find a hairdresser who I actually trust with my hair and who hasn't left me crying in my hands clutching large chunks of hair off of the floor. I had the same hair stylist for 10 years back home because I'm so fussy about my hair and so I was tentative about Marcie at first but she quickly put me at ease. She's a pro. Not only did I leave Poiesis smiling form ear to ear about my fabulously flattering hair-cut but I would happily recommend Marcie Dave, co-owner of the hair-salon to the fussiest of woman looking for a creative hairdresser who will make sure that you walk out looking and feeling good about your cut. My layers look great and the length is manageable enough for me to maintain the style she created which is so important for a hairdresser to understand. She added so much body and life to my hair by sculpting it correctly. And did not stick to the boring traditional rules of a layered cut. The result was exciting and very pleasing. The staff are friendly, approachable and empathetic to the needs of clients which is essential for me to be recommending a service provider. They have great energy and enjoy their work and make their clients feel valued! They are on the right track. If only more small businesses could conduct themselves better. Marcie is self-taught and talented and displays an untouchable ability to sculpt hair into a frame that will best enhance your facial features. I'm so glad I found a reliable hair dresser! Thank you to Marcie and Jinoy Dave at Poiesis! If you don't know what look your going for then I would advise to never forget to tell your hair dresser exactly what you don't want. They want to see us happy so giving them an idea I find always helps a lot.

Pros: You will leave with great hair. Very attentive staff.

Cons: It's hard to park and located on a crazy busy street.

Marcie has cut my hair several times and it always looks great. She does exactly what I ask with an edge and a unique style. I've seen her work and it is always quality, and everything's great except for the crazies off the street ... it's a colorful neighborhood. Tea and coffee always available, friendly staff, lots of experience here! I'm not gonna stop coming anytime soon.

This is a 5 star salon all the way. The atmosphere is lovely, comfortable, and cool. Marcie is wonderful. She does amazing precision cuts that are not only tailored to your personal style and hair type but looks great (for weeks) even after the salon visit. I recieved a cut and color and get compliments on my hair often. Whether you want a traditional or edgy new look, this is the place to go. Marcie is by far the best stylist I have ever been to and will be returning - for sure.

Pros: Great service, Hip Atmosphere, Yummy organic coffee nearby

I have been here twice and plan to back. I had my hair highlighted, cut & styled by Marcy. I have had so many complements on my new hair! I love it! I was a little nervous at first because I moved from Portland, away from the the same person that has always done my hair. I'm really picky about my hair and am so happy to find a new place that meets my standards. Thank You Marcy :)

Pros: experienced, skills, clean, comfortable, & friendly

Cons: dont forget to feed the meter because you will get a ticket!

The energy is awesome!! I loved tyhe staff everyones very inviting! I recieved a new style...a creative style and I love it! For modeling you have to be up to date and always changing, Marcie did a wondeful job coloring and cutting my hair!! This is my new salon! Thank you guys!

Cons: Parking a little scarce, but manageable

This Salon name lives up to its reputation! it's in a great location, The people are sweet and attentive. Upon arriving I was offered Tea or coffee... (even a snack :p ) The service was magnificent! It's a lovely place to be, It has a great setup lovely atmosphere. The music really set the mood and The Hair Cuts/ Styles are Great!!! Every visit was / is just as wonderful as its first! :D I highly recommend this place! : )

Pros: Ambience, Staff, Service!

I've been using Marcie to style my fashion shoots for a few years now. I finally got around to having her cut my hair a few years back and I haven't been able to go to anyone else since. Her layers always grow out nicely and I must add that is not the case with other hair stylists I've used in premium salons in town, as I've always had to go back to her to fix it. She also does great styling too. Considering her fees for top notch cuts and styles, you really should go check it out.

Pros: Great cuts and styles for great price
