Review from Veggiething Dictator
by SkyC
Since going vegan more than a decade ago, I have been on the search for the perfect pizza. Many have come close, but nothing has been nearly as delectable as the funghi pizza pie at Beretta. The crust was thin but held up well and was tinged with just the right amount of char from the ovens. The sauce had the perfect spicy sweet thing going on, and the mushrooms were earthy and rich, and the 'cheese' just brought the whole thing together in a euphoric way I could barely handle. Not since my formative years in NJ and NY have I had pizza this good. Bless you, Beretta, bless you.
- Pros: Best vegan pizza evah!
- Cons: Can be a tad loud and crowded, but maybe I'm just old :)
Delfina beware!
by rakeshtondon
If I was to give it stars based on food, I'd give 5 and if it was on the overall experience, I'd give 3 - the service is just horrible. The bartenders are just so backed up that it takes them 20-30 minutes to give you your cocktails while the food may almost be over. The food is great and the pizzas will give Delfina a run for their money. Order whatever pizza you'd like but definitely get the burrata on it even if you pay $4 for it. Totally worth it. I'd say this is a must try, but order your drinks in advance so you're not waiting around while the food may be getting cold.
- Pros: Excellent pizzas and little plates
- Cons: Horible service
My Review of Beretta
by jmorneau
This is a great spot for casual, innovative Italian food. It's a festive crowd, and the cocktails are hard to beat. I have only been once but would love to go back.
- Pros: Good crowd, good cocktails
- Cons: Gets pretty busy so it's hard to get a table
excellent prosciutto di parma pizza, dog friendly, decent service
by fvokovan
After my friend raving about the pizza, I had to try it for myself.. and let me just say, "heavenly".. My favorite was the prosciutto di parma, but the margherita w/ burrata was also very tasty. I also had the arugula & fennel salad, which I think had a touch of orange juice in the vinegrette, which made it burst in my mouth. And when you go, you MUST TRY the asparagus, egg & olivata appetizer. It's not enough to fill you up of course, but is so delicious!!
I thought it was a little funny too that there was a wait for the bar, but it wasn't that big of a deal and the food was worth any congestion near the entrance, etc.. The waitstaff was very friendly and made a point to say goodnight when we left.. All in all, I highly recommend it. Also, great date spot -
- Pros: Attractive people, clean, candle-lit, great ambiance, EXCELLENT food
- Cons: crowded
Don't bother

Where should I start? Let me start with our arrival. We expected to wait, being that it was a Friday night and there were four of us. However, in all the years of dining in the city or any other for that fact, I've never had a hostess ask me for my cell phone number, and tell me to go somewhere else to have a drink while we wait for a table!! I thought she was kidding, but no. I asked why would I do that, when there's a bar right here, and her reply was "oh there's a wait for the bar", and told me we couldn't stand around the the bar!!!. She told us that we could be seated right away in the downstairs area, which was fine. It was actually a much better alternative to waiting an hour in the main area. Unfortunately, the servers were no more pleasant than the hostess. (think personality minus). Now, on to the food. We ordered one of the bruschetta's and the gnocchi. There were four of us, and two pieces of bruschetta, which is ok, except for the fact that our server didn't mention to us that we might want to order two of them. Actually, this turned out to be a blessing, as it was not good at all. We each had Pizza's, which were ok, but definitely nothing exceptional. Certainly not worthy of a long wait for a table. Do yourself a favor, and head elsewhere. Makes me long for the Last Supper Club.
- Cons: Service, Food
Nuovo Italian fare like pizzette and antipasti pair with top-notch cocktails and a hip, casual, late-night-friendly atmosphere to make Beretta one of the most popular spots in the Mission and the city
by Contributor
This Mission hotspot is both part of the new generation of Italian restaurants (which eschew the checkered tablecloths and family-style spaghetti for slick decor, a cosmopolitan crowd and authentic pizzette and antipasti) and the model all of the others in this new category wish to emulate. The elegant, open space with dark-wood highlights, a bar, communal table, two-tops and sidewalk seating is packed every night with foodies, cocktail connoisseurs and Mission scenesters. The thin-crust Neapolitan pizzas are made with organic, seasonal ingredients and flavored with Italian meats and cheeses (proscuitto, panceta, fontina, pecorino, burrata, etc.), while the anti-pasti are contemporary spins on Old World recipes (eggplant caponatina, charred radicchio with saba, chicken liver crostini). The cocktails (Air Mail: rum, honey, lime, prosecco; Anejo Sour: tequila, lemon, agave, egg white) rival those at the city's most celebrated mixology bars and are as much of a draw as the food.
