Designer Kyra Brown's custom waist-cinchers have graced hips belonging to fans from film siren Jenna Jameson to singer Mark McGrath. The City's own Mayor Newsom was even snapped buying one at a local shopping event. Using n array of found objects, semi-precious stones and ephemera, Brown fuses unexpected materials into miniature works of art imbued with equal parts style and attitude. Buckles, as well as hand-tooled leather belts made in Berkeley, are on display in the company's cozy SoMA space.
