On 12/14/07 A group of 15 friends went to the new SF Yoshis for our annual Charlie Hunter holiday concert. We were incredibly disappointed in the terrible customer service and overpriced food. During dinner in the restaurant with my girlfriend, on dish was served incorrectly and returned. another was forgotten and late. You can go a few blocks up the street to Japantown for better and cheaper sushi. We then made it into the concert hall where we were promptly shown the wrong seats. I had to chase down the seater TWICE to convince him of his error. He finally looked at the table number with his flashlight and pointed us towards the other end of the club. We seated ourselves after finding our friends. We didn't see our server, Amy J, for the entire show. One friend finally went to the bar to order our drinks and served us himself. Amy got a "lucky" few friends got their drinks and food with 5 minutes left in the show. The show ends with no encore the lights immediately go up and the announcer starts pushing everyone out of the jazz club to seat the next show. One of our party had to chase down Amy to pay their bill and had to finish eating standing at the end of the bar. We saw many groups leave without paying their bills. Two of my friends who apparently are gluttons for punishment decided to stay behind for a late dinner and were not served their food until after the second show ENDED. They also had the pleasure of witnessing another upset patron screaming at a manager. Lovely experience. I can understand there are some issues with the new opening of a restaurant. However the extent of the chaos and the incompetence and rudeness of several members of the staff is absolutely unacceptable. I will not return to the SF venue to pay more for less.
Pros: Nice architecture
Cons: Terrible service, overpriced
