Solid food, straight-forward drinks, and eclectic music.
by Patrick Heig
Low tables, booth-like seating and soft lights give this clean, modern Haight Street spot a lounge vibe, and the letter "N" reigns over the mahogany bar. After acquiring a liquor license in late '08, Nickie's has a full bar and plenty of beer on tap to pair with a menu that includes a mix of California and Creole cuisine like Newcastle beer fish 'n' chips, seafood jambalaya, Fulton Valley fried chikcen and pork sliders. Besides serving up solid food and drink options, there's also themed entertainment nights--Sundays feature live Irish music, Wednesdays are more drum 'n' bass, etc.
This Lower Haight pub provides a lounge-y venue for California and Creole cuisine, specialty soju cocktails and an eclectic music scene.

Beautiful Upgrade to DJ Lounge meets Neighborhood Pub!
by scoobydu1969
The recently redesigned Nickie's in Lower Haight is a beautiful natural wood and modern re-invention of the classic dimly lit neighborhood pub. I had some jambalaya from the new menu, and enjoyed a "dollar off" pint during happy hour. The place looks great, rebuilt by the new owners' hands, and run by a friendly (and familiar feeling staff.)
I am looking forward to stopping in for a drink whenever I pass through.
- Pros: Beautiful Natural Wood, Beer Selection
- Cons: I live in Oakland!
