I think tha t KOi Fitness is a great program. It is fun and challenging exercising outdoors. The trainers are great and the other participants are friendly and supportive. I would recommend this program to anyonebored with the gym and looking to get great results.
- Pros: Thumbs up - it is definately enjoyable
- Cons: None I can think of
What a great way to spend the morning!

I can't say enough about this program... I have been in this program now for 10 months and it is addictive. I love waking up early and truly exercising more in that hour than most will work out all week. Everyone in the program is a motivating force that will keep you going...from the trainers to your fellow work out companions. I am far healthier now than when I started the program and have lost 20 pounds and still counting. If you are debating doing a program to get in better shape, try this program...trust me, you will be surprised what you can do!
- Pros: Great mix of trainers that truly want to see you achieve your goals!
- Cons: Rain in the winter, but a small price to pay!
Amazing way to get in shape

I have been doing this exercise program for over three years and it truly has changed my life. When I started, I couldn't even run a whole mile, had pretty much failed as a gym member, was what my doctor considered "unhealthily overweight" and I looked and felt much older than I was.
I initially decided to join as my 40th birthday was 6 months away and I wanted to feel like I was doing something to prolong my life. I managed to do so much more. In the first two sessions, I went from 236lbs to 219; today I hover right around 200. I look good [so I am told], love the thought of exercise [being outside is fun - even in the rain] and feel better than I ever have. If you are even thinking about doing something like this, I would highly suggest asking to try it out - you will be totally sold.
- Pros: Great being outside, fabtastic instructor, group atmosphere is fun
- Cons: rain, darkness at 6AM in the winter
Best workout program I've ever done... now in my fifth year.
by robairsf
I've been with this group for almost five years. It is an addication! The instructors are pros and great at managing groups. I have dropped 50 pounds and have never felt more fit in my life. Then, of course, there is nothing like being in the GGP every morning for a workout. The program is very thoughful and supportive. Each six week session builds fitness level in a planful way. In addition, one of the trainers is a nutritionist who provides important tips and recipes. It's a full package. Try it out. And, don't miss the optional Saturday session at Baker Beach - one of the best workouts you'll ever have in one of the most beautiful places in the Bay Area.
- Pros: Professional; Supportive; Outdoors; Variety
- Cons: Some Contruction in the Park
Too Much Fun!

Koi Fitness is best fitness program I've ever done. I started last July (2006) and thought I'd do a 6 week session, well, it is May and I see me doing this as long as I can. The instructors are super qualified and very creative in their approch to excerise. They cover all areas of fitness, aerobic, strengh training, endurance, agility., flexabily. They test your fitness level and put you with a small group of equals, so there is a level for everyone. They even help you with your eating habits. I've completed changed the way I view food, I feel so much better. I look forward every morning to meet up with my new friends in Golden Gate Park and get the best work out, it makes my day so much better.
- Pros: Location beautiful Golden Gate Park
Fitness program you can actually stick with!
by kimakoi
Koi Fitness is ideal for people (like me) who know that they need to exercise regularly, but get easily bored with routines and drop out. The routines, intensity levels, etc. change over the course of a 6-week session (and the focus of the sessions rotate throughout the year as well), and even the scenery changes, since it's always outside, rain or shine. The trainers are also very attentive to your individual fitness level and can modify your workout on the spot if it looks like it's getting a little too easy (or too hard) for you. They (the trainers) are all athletes themselves, and have a lot of real-world knowledge to draw upon, which is always a plus. I have been working out with them for about 7 months and plan to continue indefinitely, which is amazing considering I have traditionally HATED jocks, exercise, etc. Also, the rain or shine thing makes you feel like a badass when you come home all muddy and sweaty after a workout in the rain. Good times!
- Pros: Outdoors, great trainers, good trainer to student ratio, they stay on time (just one hour)
- Cons: most of the cardio involves running. :-/
HATE THE GYM? TRY KOI FITNESS!
by mppc
I have joined gyms and exercise programs over the years, but usually after a few months of enthusiastic attendance, I would lose interest and soon after that I would stop going. This was a pretty regular pattern for me.
Then I learned about something called BOOTCAMP. It was outdoor exercise and sounded like something I might like. I love to ski, hike and walk and just about any outdoor activity so I thought I'd give it a try. However, I had NO upper body strength and not only couldn't I run a city block, I didn't have any desire to! I was a bit worried about my ability but I figured if I hated it or couldn't keep up I'd just QUIT! Well, almost a year later I am still attending (rain or shine - I'm addicted), I can run (not fast but who cares) I have developed some muscle definition in my arms (or so I'm told) and I look great!
I LOVE KOI FITNESS! They have made me feel strong physically and have given me an "I can do it" attitude. The instructors are highly competent, there are ability groups, the workouts are different each day, it?s outside in San Francisco's beautiful parks, and the 60 minutes flies by.
If you like being outdoors and are looking to improve/enhance your physical state AND stay motivated KOI FITNESS is the way to go!
- Pros: Excellent instructors, varied workouts, outdoors
Awesome trainers, great scenery, and results!

Koi Fitness rocks! All the trainers are really cool, patient, and are totally there to help you and make it fun. It's suprisingly fun to wake up early and take in the beauty of Golden Gate Park. Lots of time in the city you take that for granted.
The best part of it all is the program really works. In the first six weeks I lost 15 lbs and more energy. My overall health has improved and I have so much energy.
If you've every considered doing any kind of fitness work, but are turned off by gyms then this is the program for you. The group dynamic makes it fun and you can't beat the payoff.
Great workouts for every level
by sbacon1999
I've been working out with Koi for about 6 months now and I love it. Just this morning we were pushing a truck around a parking lot to work out our lower body (seriously!). What I love about Koi is the variety of workouts and not knowing what to expect from day to day. Running, pushups, pullups, ab work, agility training, hills... There is no such thing as getting into a workout rut when you're with Koi. And it doesn't matter what level you're at. Koi will assess your fitness and endurance levels, the assign you to the best group.
The trainers are also fabulous - knowledgeable, motivating, nice, but tough enough to push you when you need it. There's also a nutritionist on staff (who's also a trainer) who's a great resource if you want to change your diet as well. One guy dropped over 30 pounds working with her.
I love Koi - it's addicting! If you're bored with your workouts or haven't exercised in years, Koi will work for you.
- Pros: outdoors, easy parking, small trainer to student ratio, knowledgeable staff, great variety
