The best massage in San Francisco!

by flyintl

I get about 10 massages a year and have tried different places and therapists, however, I just found the best place in San Francisco at Apotheca. I went in for my first appointment with a sore neck and shoulder and came out with relieve and a lot more movement. I'm checking my calendar right now for my second appointment. Oh yeah, this place is REAL therapeutic massage, so if you want a spa ambience and a spa massage, this isn't the place.

  • Pros: Quiet, private and truly therapeutic
  • Cons: Not easy to find the first time, but once you do, it's like finding the secret garden.

Awesome!

by dillong

I looked through many reviews on this site, and feel I made the best choice with Apotheca. This was my first massage, and it was wonderful. Kirsten was very friendly, down to earth, and genuinely loves what she does. I wanted someone who would listen to what I had to say, and work with me on a personal level to accomplish my goals in the realm of skincare and bodywork, and I found that person in Kirsten. In addition, the prices are reasonable and well worth the treatment. Thanks Apotheca!

Enthusiastic top rating!

by delilia23

I went here because of all the great reviews I read on-line and I'm so glad I did. I had the best massage of my life here! For so many reasons, but for one thing, it was easy as can be. I made the appointment on-line and paid for it by Pay Pal. Tip included, my very long session (including a wonderful face and scalp massage) ran less than $100. When I wasn't sleeping I noticed that my masseuse was attentive and funny too. Enthusiastic top rating!

  • Pros: I still feel good and my massage was 4 days ago

Wish there were 10 stars to give

by wunderwall

Kick-ass massages and easy, no-hassle booking and payments every time. I have had a ton of massage and I can honestly say that West Wind is the best. I would give Kirsten 10 stars if I could. No matter how stressed out I am, within five seconds of her foot treatments I am purring like a big cat. I have recently had sessions with her employees as well, and they have also been consistently great. I even had my first massage with one of the male CMTS recently, on Kirsten's recommendation. I was uncomfotable being seen by another guy at first, but she assured me that his deep tissue massage would be the right thing for some lingering sports injuries. She was right. I was immediately at ease when he started working on me. He explained what he was doing and I learned a lot about what was going on with my body. A bonus take-home benefit! If you want solid, consistently great massage without a lot of hype, call these guys right away.

  • Pros: Easy, great massages, extra-long sessions

Blissful

by jadek

My boyfriend and I made a full day here. I had the first appointment and he came in with a different therapist when I was finished. I had the 100 minute "holistic massage" with dry brushing, head massage and flower therapy. It did incredible things for the pain and stress I have been having from too much work and not enough down time. I added a facial massage and the result was a much happier, prettier, more relaxed me. Like the web site says, I left simply GLOWING. My boyfriend took it more bare-bones, with a sports massage and a foot treatment, since he is training for the San Francisco Marathon and always in pain. We were both *really* impressed with the services here. It isn't a spa or a frou frou place, but that's ok because it isn't what we were looking for. We will be back soon. I have already booked my first next facial massage for next month and the boyfriend is planning another sports massage after his next long training day. I would go back every week if I could. I for one am hooked!!

  • Pros: Convenient location, great music, incredible massage

Perfect every time

by lamiacara

I hesitate to write a review of this place since they're already so popular, but I have to share the magic. I go here at least once a month every month and every time I leave inspired to take better care of myself. I always feel l've learned something when I visit this soothing space: a new stretch, some fantastic elixir I can put on my baby crow's feet, how to not slouch and hurt, etc. Plus, nowhere else in the City can I get a 100-minute massage for less than $100 and come out feeling like a million bucks. There's probably a math problem in there somewhere but you'll be too noodly to figure it out after you go under these massage god/esses' magic hands. Go! Go now!

  • Pros: Magic hands, great value

Personalized Zen

by gennifluffx

I can honestly say that I had the best massage of my life at West Wind Massage. After a very annoying day at work, I ran to my appointment and got there with my pulse pounding and out of breath, ready to explode from stess. My massage therapist guided me through a personalized mini-interview before my massage, which also seemed eerily personalized to me and my needs. It was like everywhere I hoped she would go next, she did, and at just the right amount of pressure. On top of that, she was sweet and gentle and totally nice, and she made me feel generally at ease. The office studio is relaxing and quiet even though it is literally right on Market Street. I wouldn't drive there but fortunately it is right by my office and a straight shot to my house. I've already booked an appointment for next month. I can't wait, I tell you!

  • Pros: Friendly, personalized, welcoming, easy appointment system

Incredible Hands

by laraking

I am literally melting after my massage last night. My masseur was strong and totally focused on my comfort and he really helped my knotted-up shoulders and lower back. I'm a paralegal and I'm forever at a desk. I'm so grateful to have found this place right around the corner from the office. You can bet I'll be making regular long-lunch appointments.

  • Pros: Skilled massage therapist, awesome downtown location

Message therapists perform their magic in studio or on site, blending Swedish, deep tissue, acupressure and reflexology techniques.

Doesn't get any better

by heathrowsch

Consistently excellent massage from these people! I started by seeing the owner over 5 years ago, and now I have had appointments with everyone who works there. Every single one of them has gotten it spot-on. this little oasis has been my go-to whenever I've needed a special gift or an hour to myself ever since I moved to the city. Now that they are employing more incredible therapists and it isn't so hard to get an appointment I feel free to tell everyone I know where they can get a truly excellent massage.

  • Pros: no attitude. long sessions are incredible deal for the money
  • Cons: nada
