After searching all the area universities and art museums for a class that would engage my very particular 14-year daughter during our week-long stay in the Bay area last summer, we were thrilled to discover SewNow! Susan Goldie's fashion sewing classes that included customized patterns, individualized design elements, and right-sized projects were beyond our expectations delivering Project Runway fun and "schway cool wearable art." The teacher was terrific providing the perfect mix of instruction, technique, genuinely warm encouragement, and freedom so important for artistic and temperamental teens! And as our needs were a little out of the box, coming from out-of-state and commuting in from downtown San Francisco, Susan went out of her way to accommodate us so that my daughter could get her project done before we left town. The icing on the cake is the incredibly reasonable price for the class AND the take home end products - which she still wears all the time. My daughter loved this class and is plotting her return...with a friend or two to join the fun. We highly recommend this class - it's an incredible deal!
Pros: Great equipment, teacher, personalized attention, custom designs
Cons: Out of the way location - but accessible by BART (Lafayette) and near freeway exit
