WOW! I just bought the coolest armoire EVER from this unexpected place in Berkeley. I found out they had two locations, and I would never had known of their Ashby place (since I’m never out that way) if I hadn’t been Christmas shopping on 4th street in Berkeley. I couldn’t believe the cool assortment of eclectic imports; some from the turn of the century (I don’t mean the RECENT one)….and also was blown away at their prices. I have seen similar Indian chests, etc. for double the price at stores on Valencia Street. (I guess I was rewarded for my venture across the bridge!) Anyone with an interest in cool items, plus some real, romantic period “charmers” should check this place out. My new green, painted 100-year-old armoire (with hints of blue and red in the underpaint) makes my new bedroom setup perfect.

This Berkeley furniture store has been a STAPLE for my home for 8 years now, and I don’t even like going into Berkeley! Their imports from India, England, etc. are so cool….and compared with other stores with similar items….SO AFFORDABLE!!! I am shocked that this isn’t the “IT” place to go for furniture. I think SF people would be shocked at the deals this place has to offer. Everything from hand painted period pieces to wrought iron decorative “knick knacks”….this place is an undiscovered treasure chest of cool, hipster items at the fraction of big city prices!

I am addicted to Zentrum. They have a lot of unique wood furniture, as well as upholstered pieces. It is the only place I shop for furniture, not only because I can find the right pieces for each corner, but because the owner, Inge, always has wonderful ideas to go with each of her pieces. I only wish I had a larger house to accomodate more beautiful furniture.
Pros: Nice selection of ethnic and classic pieces at reasonable prices
Cons: Products displayed in a warehouse environment

I just moved into the area and needed a new sofa. Inge was very kind & considerate knowing that I knew nothing about furniture and helped me make the right choice. She gave me a good deal too. She is the best in my book.
Pros: wide variety, great service.
