User Reviews for David Shu, MD Internal Medicine

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I’ve had to see many physicians in the last 10 years due to a severe car crash. I was a passenger in a vehicle that struck a tree at very high speed; I now have chronic pain from the dozens of fractures I endured. I came to Dr. Shu as a new patient and he didn’t just continue prescribing me the medication my previous physicians prescribed. He listened to what I had to say, was really genuinely concerned with my well being, and has helped me outside an appointment as well. He’s now my girlfriend’s doctor and saw my mother over the holidays when she was here on vacation. My mom, who’s a nurse, was treated by Dr. Shu for an allergy related problem said that he was a great doctor, and was a very nice person.

I have to admit that after reading the last review I was a little worried about my appointment with Dr Shu. But I figure that I'd go in with a open mind and make my own decision on the care that I'd get. Dr Shu let me be a partner in my health care. He took his time, asked a lot of questions, took the time to read my medical history and answered my questions. Dr Shu was also completely respectful of my use of Alternative Medicine and how it has made a positive impact on my health. His office is next to St Mary's Hospital, where he told me he sees a lot of in-patients which I think is an advantage because it means that he has to be on top of things at all times.

I went with my aunt to try this new doctor, as she is tired to dealt with her current pcp. However, he seems to be too businessman-style, rather than a doctor. My first impression of him is an aggressive new young doctor. Unlike what he said as "approach patient as unique individual, I don't observe how he achieves it. Maybe, it is nothing wrong to be like that, but I expect my doctor to be a caring, warm and honest. Listen to me or not, up to you.
