Not a cool spot

by newenglandtransplant at Citysearch

So when did the marina need a velvet rope and bouncers in dark suits and clipboards? Come on. If you're looking a marina yuppie spot this is it. More importantly though I witnessed a terrible, dispicable act. I was with the party that left the building and saw a casually dressed man turned away after being asked if he was there for the birthday party. I wasn't there for any birthday party. I got in. There was no birthday party. I won't be back.

  • Cons: Velvet Rope, Bouncers in dark suits with clipboards.

$9 Bottomless mismosas!

by MelSF , Citysearch Contributor at Citysearch

I have been back to this place a few times for brunch, mostly for their cheao $9 bottomless mimosas. The food is just ok. There is nothing here I absolutely love. The hashbrowns look like the frozen kind you buy at the grocery store. It's worth it for the cheap drinks though!

  • Pros: Bottomless mimosas
  • Cons: Food is so-so

Breakfast Sliders & Bottomless Mimosas... Yes Please!

by lguerriero , Citysearch Contributor at Citysearch

There a many places in SF that serve mimosas but none do it quite as well as Circa. Bottomless mimosas are only $9 with purchase of an entrée, and at an average of $10 per entrée, this is one of the best deals in town.

Not only do they serve bottomless mimosas, but the servers give you a carafe for your table (multiple carafes depending on the size of your party). The service is great which is surprising considering how busy they are during brunch. The food comes out rather quickly and you are never left waiting with an empty glass.

For a place where most people only come to drink for cheap, the food is pretty good. It’s not really anything to write home about, but I really enjoy the breakfast sliders and the turkey club.

As most of these reviews state, it does get VERY crowded, so I recommend making a reservation.

  • Pros: Bottomless mimosas for $9… enough said
  • Cons: The bar is always fully stocked with "Marina" guys

Bottomless mimosas!

by heyitsJO at Citysearch

Went here after a quick stroll in the area looking for Christmas presents. We were hungry and the big sign out front said "bottomless mimosas" (with purchase of brunch) AND "eggs benedict"... key words for me and the boyfriend (respectively) on a Sunday morning on vacation.

The eggs benedicts were really good; they had a "benedict sampler" that was perfect! You could choose from a variety of takes of the classic brunch staple. You can't go wrong!

And, well, bottomless mimosas. 'Nough said.

Only thing I was annoyed about was how crowded it was---because they were making everyone sit in the bar area since, apparently, some ginormous parties had reserved the dining area. Can I just tell you, I walked in, had at least 2 mimosas, was served my food and was almost done when the party FINALLY arrived. Rude.

But c'mon. Bottomless mimosas for $9. Yessuh.

  • Pros: Duh, the mimosas. And the eggs benedict(s).
  • Cons: Crowded, unnecessarily

HORRIBLE Service

by steven4 at Citysearch

Went here with 5 friends tonight. Won't be going back. Not a big fan of the Marina to begin with, so if this is your 'hood this might be your kind of place. These were my problems:

* The waitress was mediocre at best.

* The wine list was ridiculously expensive; cheapest wine $49 and not a lot of variety.

* Waitress placed the bill on our table right after she served us dessert; not after we were done.

But the worst was that somebody sent over the head bus boy to tell us (nicely at least) that there was another reservation of 6 and could we please wrap it up soon. I have NEVER had this happen to me before...even at a Denny's or other common coffee shop. We might have talked for 10 minutes after dessert when the bus boy came over to our table. We were going to leave within minutes regardless.

We spent well over $350 and then were asked to leave 10 minutes after we finished dessert!

Never going back.

  • Pros: Good Food
  • Cons: Expensive Wine List

The WORST EVER!!!!!!

by batman1969 at Citysearch

To all those looking to have a great dining experience, I would definitely avoid eating here. I have eaten at Circa many times, and have enjoyed it very much, however on 10/16/2008, things have changed for the worse. The service was lousey, and the quality of the food was very poor. I really do not care for fast food but believe that Burger King would have been a better choice that evening. It was a horrible and frustrating experience and I will never go back and suggest that if you are looking for a nice restaurant to have a great dinner that you look elsewhere. The North Beach area is full of much better quality eating establishments.

My partner and I even spoke to the chef, but he had nothing to say, and was very rude when we tried to explain that things had changed for the worse. So this is definitely a place that I will ever go back to, and am only writing this in hopes that others will be spared the horrible experience which I encountered.

bad customer service

by jenniemarie at Citysearch

I went here recently for an event that I paid for and my jacket was stolen from the bathroom. Granted, I left it in there for merely 10 minutes, but the lack of regard from the hostess and manager makes me never want to return to this "Marina" joint. I even had a sentimental bracelet in the pocket. When the manager finally offered me his card to follow up with him the next day, I emailed him and heard nothing back from him. Not even a polite "sorry, we didn't find your jacket". I will never go here again and will not recommend to anyone I know. Recently I left my phone in a dive bar in Hayes Valley and 2 days later it was still there, turned in by a decent customer or staff member. Interesting difference between a Marina bar and a dive bar. I think I'll stay away from the Marina bars.

Great New Menu !

by robdean at Citysearch

Stopped by tonight to try the Spring menu. The new menu is much lighter and healthier that the last. I can't wait to go back for the Lobster Corndogs and the fresh mozzarella and tomatoe skewers. Very attentive service.

  • Pros: the healthier spring menu
  • Cons: very busy bar scene
