Best Pizza!

by ohiochick at Citysearch

For all you folks who say you can't find good pizza in SF, I'm glad to tell you, you're wrong! This pizza is heaven! I've only had the deep dish, but what a deep dish it is. The sausage is savory, the toppings are hearty, and the sauce (which comes on top and I love that) is amazing! And the wings (while not your typical buffalo-style) are fantastic too. They have a nice little kick to them. Pretty much everthing on menu is great. The only disappointment you'll find at the Little Star is the long line to get in!

  • Pros: Food and service are great
  • Cons: Long waits on the typically busy nights out

Awesome thin crust

by agentred at Citysearch

I prefer thin crust pizza, and they have a wonderful crispy one with awesome toppings and sauce. Buffalo wings are good too.

  • Pros: my favorite in the city for thin crust
  • Cons: parking, crowds

Amazing pizza, amazing service

by robecta at Citysearch

Went there on a Friday night with 7 people. It was a short wait and the service is great! Ordered green salad and chicken wings ( really good!), and 2 deep dish pizza ( little star-- heavily recommended) and classic...would definitely visit again!

  • Pros: Good food and drinks
  • Cons: Place is small, don't take reservation.

Cornmeal crusts and funky urban atmosphere lure deep-dish fans to this Mission pizzeria.

by Gina Goff at Citysearch

The Scene
Like its older sibling in the Western Addition, this dimly lit parlor counters its sketchy block with casually sleek decor and an indie-rock jukebox soundtrack (think: the Arcade Fire, Interpol). The narrow dining room, punctuated by exposed brick walls, dark wooden tables and dropped lighting, hosts a crowd of hip 30-somethings. Servers are swift and helpful with recommendations but mostly leave diners to uninterrupted conversation.

The Food
Chicago-style deep-dish pies are the signature--and perhaps the best of their kind in San Francisco. The dessert-worthy crusts are crisped to a golden brown on the outside but reveal chewy layers within. Beneath the chunky sweet tomato sauce of the eponymous pie hides gooey goodness: a blend of ricotta, feta, mushrooms and spinach. While the toothsome deep-dish pies garner most of the praise, a slew of thin-crust options--like the olive oil-laced and mozzarella-dotted white pizza (sans sauce)--hit the spot for lighter appetites. Craveable caprece salads and garlic bread balance the offerings.

Best Pizza in the Bay Area

by thejakethe at Citysearch

Zachary's in Berkeley is no longer the king of deep dish. All hail Little Star. Avoid the scene and take out.

Best Deep Dish Pizza in the Nation!

by erikasf at Citysearch

I have gotten the Classic Deep Dish pizza many times, and I think it is definitely the best I have ever had! I even like it better than Uno's in Chicago! It is the crust and the rich tomato sauce that make it special. It remains my top choice for pizza.

  • Pros: Deep Dish Classic is the Best!

best pizza in the bay area

by jhhobson at Citysearch

I know, there are lots of great pizza pies in the Bay Area, but Little Star out does them all. I went to their mission branch for the first time last weekend; not as crowded, nice ambiance and the food is every bit as good as their other branch.

Delicious pizza, friendly service, nice atmosphere

by etaw at Citysearch

The deep dish pizza was delicious, as were the salads. Service was great. The atmosphere is nice, it's not over-designed and doesn't feel like a nouveau mission scene. We went early so it wasn't jammed, but I'm sure it will be.

  • Pros: Great food, service, atmosphere
  • Cons: Sketchy block might bother some
