Disappointed!

by trysf

I tried to make a reservation but the restraurant didn't help me at all. When I called to reconfirmed, I found the same reservationist messed up mine. She was also rude. I wanted to have nice dinner for somebody special but worryied a lot. I emailed the restaurant to reconfirma again but no reply at all. When we went to the place. Our table was not great. Small and packed place. I'll not be back there!

Who answers the phone????........maybe a ghost !!!!!!

by purepure

I wanted to treat my friend to a lovely dinner for her birthday. We met before 6pm at the bar.

The very same day at 11am I called the restaurant to make a reservation for two.

I was on the phone with some female for a long 5 minutes spelling few times my name (my last name has only 7 letters) and requesting specific sitting area (quiet table so we could talk).

For some reason this entire experience on the phone made me exhausted and after hanging up I was glad it was over and at the same time I was happy that this person on the other end finally got it.

When was time for our dinner I went to the hostess and told her that we are ready for our dinner. I gave her my name and in respond, few seconds later she told me that I do not have a reservation.!!!! They do not have my name on the reservation list!

Go figure!

Just because we had not enough time that evening to go some place else, we end up having dinner in this restaurant and our meals were very good.

But I will never go back!!!!!

One more thing. I also wish that the bartender serving us before dinner was warmer.

Bad and Horrid!!

by patricklogan

I cannot believe the positive reviews. These people giving good reviews must be employees or Management! We went here for lunch after shopping. After waiting at the bar and never getting our drinks, we were sat. I ordered a steak that was OK in taste but I swear it was so small I laughed when the plate was put in front of me. My friend ordered the chicken salad. There was no chicken! We also ordered the crab fritters for an appetizer that came out with the entrees. Not to mention we didn't get share plates or extra untesils. So we used the same ones. I practically had to beg for more drinks, that were forgotten. After the so-so food we had the butterscotch pudding. It tasted like refrigerator. After paying the ridiculous bill I was fuming. I asked for the manager who seemed indifferent. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PIT!!! IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

A nice place this is! It's not for the young seen though but the food is tasty, foie gras is in couple items. Nice wine list.. The Burgers are the best, so juicy. Service was good too! Try it out.

  • Pros: Burgers and wine!
  • Cons: At the westfield mall

A new favorite!

by jln1971

My friend and I had dinner at Lark Creek last night, and found everything delicious. From the flakey buttery biscuits to the sweet and salty dessert, everything was tasty. We had the foie gras and almost died in bliss...the foie portion was huge, two big slices, and the brioche bread pudding with pear were excellent with it. We decided that it was the best foie gras we'd ever had. Our filets were done just right, medium rare - melt-in-your mouth yummy. The sauces were all very good, especially the bleu cheese sauce which was like pure bleu cheese puree heaven. Our sides were also very tasty - I had the creamed spinach and potato pancakes. The chef is a master of sauces, and being the condiment queen that I am, I enjoyed all the different dipping flavors. Although, the filet would have been just fine without any sauce at all. We had no space left, but still managed to share the "milkshake" dessert - not quite a brulee, very light flavors, and the salted caramel on top still has me craving another bite this morning - sweet and salty, yum! The staff was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere. I will definitely come back.

If you want steak go somewhere else

by sfbee

I went there the day after Thanksgiving. It was all good till the steak. We order the rib eye and the dry age rib eye. One was order medium and the other medium rare. The both came and they look the same, couldn't tell the difference between the usda and the dry age. One came well done( the one that's supposed to be medium) and the other medium(the one the supposed to be medium rare), we sent back the well done and it came back medium rare. The medium steak was tough. If you paying that kind of money they should know how to cook steak, it is a steak house after all. You better off at Morton Steak house since they would never over cook a steak.

Chef Bradley Ogden brings business-expense-caliber, classic American fare to the hungry shoppers of the Westfield San Francisco Centre.

by Contributor

The hurdle in attaining urban respectability here? The heavily trafficked mall location. But blond wood, elegant track lighting and an exhibition kitchen bordered by stone tile strike a balance; the space presents the expense-account atmosphere a top steakhouse requires and the warmth needed to make civilians feel welcome, too. Attentive service and a main room separated from the shopping outside help diners forget about the Foot Lockers and Kay Jewelers nearby. Beef: real food for real people--not just those with a suit and a Blackberry. The menu of that plus pork, fish, fowl and their supporting cast offers few distractions from the old-school carnivore approach. And that's good. Caesar salad hits its tangy mark with a fresh-romaine crunch and the clam-and-mussel chowder boasts a smoky bacon undertone. Cutting tender filet mignon's like slicing mousse; the bone-in ribeye has just the right mix of juice and fruitwood-and-ember-grilled char; and the grape cheesecake is a rich, guess-who's-hitting-the-gym-tomorrow finale.

Amazing food and service!

by ilovesfdining

Though I agree that it's kinda weird to be located in a mall, once you walk inside, the mall completely disappears. Everything about my dinner was amazing. The waiter was very attentive and funny and the managers came over to our table to introduce themselves to see if we needed anything. Good stuff.

The food was awesome. I had the gazpacho gelee, which melts in your mouth...and paired with the mt. tam little grilled cheese sandwiches...so good. We tried a couple of different salads that were great, and then the steak. WOW. The garlic butter sauce was fantastic, the filet was perfect...then came the desserts. I've always loved the butterscotch pudding at the Lark Creek restaurants, so I chose the pudding and we also chose a lime meringue tart thingy. Both were fabulous.

I HIGHLY recommend Lark Creek Steak. YUM.

  • Pros: food, service, atmosphere
  • Cons: in a mall, but at least there's a lot of parking!

Naysayers are jealous - this place is a haven

by tvfoodie

All these bad reviews are ridiculous! Obviously written by other restaurants that can't compete. Have you even been in the restaurant? It's not "trendy too cool" - it's classy and relaxed. Nobody that I've encountered in the 3 times I've been there was rude or had an ego. You have to at least recognize the fact that the restaurant is only one month old - EVERY restaurant evolves and changes, especially at the beginning. For being so young, they do an amazing job.

The food is great and there are some definite standouts, such as the pan-seared skate, tomato gelee (very silky, not like jello), foie gras, the pate and the NY strip. Collard greens are also awesome - not soggy or bland. I'm not usually a dessert-at-a-steakhouse person, but they definitely have some great things on the menu here, too. Loved the concord grape cheesecake and the butterscotch pudding. The whole place feels much more inviting that some of the other steakhouses in town - not all that manly-man wood nonsense.

Give it a chance - it's downhome good food and is a respite from retail burnout.

  • Pros: great bar area, warm & inviting environment, great classic and new dishes
  • Cons: parking, but I think they validate
