Dharmaspace is a beautiful space with enough equipment and space for group classes, and their private sessions are the best. With bamboo floors, high ceilings, and full floor-to-ceiling windows, there is such a warm feeling with pure joy. I love my weekly session there. As an added bonus, Dharmaspace is a place where everybody knows your name. Oh and everybody - the instructors and reception staff - is extremely nice and friendly. I have gone to Dharmaspace for almost a year, and I've been doing Pilates for about 3 years total. Dharmaspace has a strong dedication to the classic methods that Joseph Pilates envisioned. The equipment includes reformers, chairs, cadillacs, barrels, towers, mats, and a lot of other things that I can't recall. As an extra bonus, the location is superclose to BART/MUNI, so no need to worry about parking issues. They accept credit cards for payment. There are 5 dressing rooms and 2 bathrooms. I really love Dharmaspace and can't enthuse about it enough. I strongly recommend this studio!
Pros: Amazing studio; location for BART/MUNI, accept credit cards
Cons: not the best location if you want free parking!

Wow - After a few knee injuries, my physical therapist recommended that I start doing pilates. After just a couple of private sessions with Kamryn, I felt like I had a new body! She really understands peoples' bodies and what each person needs to make them both stronger and leaner. All I can say is try it - she's great. It's also a beautiful studio.
Pros: Personality and expertise of instructors, ambience, great equipment

I just love this pilates studio! Peter is a great instructor. He used to teach at Satori, but now he is at dharmaspace. And I just like the schedule they put out, even I sometimes miss couple of classes, but I still can take enough classes in a week to feel good about myself... highly recommended!!!

Peter is not only a capable Pilates instructor who takes the time to understand the individual needs of your body, but a caring individual with a sense of humor that makes you want to push yourself as much as possible (but never to the point of pain). The new location he has built at Dharmaspace is a fitness haven for those in the Financial District and SOMA. All of the equipment is state-of-the-art and the entire staff is friendly so there's no reason to be hesitant to try something out for the first time. The private Pilates lessons are competitive in pricing and the group mat classes are designed to be accessible to all.

I have never written any kind of a public review about anything or anyone -- ever -- but I just have to let people know that I have found the most amazing Pilates studio and instructor -- located right in the heart of the financial district. Pilates has changed my life -- it's actually difficult to put into words. I feel so fortunate to have met Peter Lakis and to be doing Pilates mat classes and private sessions in his gorgeous, new studio. If anyone is looking for a Pilates instructor or just thinking about starting Pilates, I HIGHLY recommend Dharmaspace. You will not believe how motivational, passionate and intuitive Peter is. You won't believe what Pilates can do for you and how it can make you feel. A truly wonderful instructor and person as well. You'll know what I mean after your first lesson.

you know how you read stuff that says it'll change your life, change your body, change your mind... and if you're like me, you don't believe it... well, with dharmaspace, it's true... i wasn't aiming for pilates, or dharmaspace, i'm not an athlete, nor a yogi or dancer by any stretch... but somehow i got lucky... SO lucky... and now there's a beautiful new studio (bamboo floors alone worth the trip in...) on 2nd, between mission and market, offering pilates all week long (yoga mondays), early morning (yep, sometimes that's the right time...) during lunch, after work, saturday, too... dharmaspace, and peter lakis, help me keep my hopes high, my heart open and my body healthy... it's a wonder,a treasure you deserve, and YOU SHOULD GO NOW!
Pros: breathtakingly beautiful, but value of instruction surpasses even that...
