Ok, here's the scoop. The Bay Area is a foodie's paradise. We have all dished out major cash at a high end restaurant and walked away cheated and disappointed. Been there, done that you say. There is alot of wisdom in keeping things simple and humble. This is the case of Sol in San Rafael. This place absolutely ROCKS! The food is so fresh and tasty, it's addictive. I drive from San Francisco to San Rafael all the time to go to Sol. I have dined out at just about all the great restaurants in San Francisco and can honestly say that this place beats them all for the price and experience. First off, the environment and energy of the place is great. It's almost like the Starbucks effect. You see a line out the door and know there must be something to this place. By the way, the line is usually long but goes quickly, so don't be swayed to leave. The communal table set up is a great opportunity to talk about how great the food is and get to know other people who enjoy great food at a great price. Times are tough and Sol is a great way to reward yourself without breaking the bank. I highly recomment it! Enjoy. Once you eat the salty plantains, you will never be the same. Don't forget to put some of the spicey wonder juice on everything.

Pros: Quality of food, ambience, service

Cons: Parking can be tough, communal dining can be intimidating

I love this restaurant! It's great when you want to eat quickly yet sit down. You order and then grab a seat where ever you can find an open seat! Food is served quickly! I am a big fan of the chicken or vegeterian meal. Both are delicious!

Pros: enviroment, food, great juice choices!

Cons: parking, sometimes there is a long line

This place is great!! I ordered a chicken/ham sandwich with garlic celantro mayo and it was like a flavor explosion in my mouth. I have never tasted something so good. The chicken was very tender and extremely juicy and the mayo was something I have never tasted before. The place is rather small with little seating, but it is all worth it when you bite into your food, now I know why there was a line out the door.

Pros: Food, decor

Cons: seating, parking

Love this place! Very casual, but lively, quick service and unique, tasty food. Have tried two different chicken dishes and beef entree and one of the sandwiches, all flavorful and entrees come with a salad and beans and rice. Plus the spicy sauce which they make themselves! The restaurant is friendly and inviting and if you aren't good at the long communal tables, you're not committed, there is individual seating too. I'd go again and again no matter what color the building is!

Pros: Easy walk in, delicious, unique

Cons: noisy, sometimes crowded at front door
