Best Damn Chop House the City of SF!!!
by Johnnyddd
We loved the Joe Dimaggios' in SF. The food was fabulous, ambiance was authentic and the best!
Tracey Rice our Private Dining Mngr, is #1 in San Francisco and the service was incredible!! I highly recommend Joe's for the food, a party, place to meet or to go for great food, value for the money and service!!!
It was better than Harris, Morton's, Ruth Chris or Bob's Steak House. Also, JP at the Bar and Jared the GM treated us like VIP's! The party thanks to the expertise of Tracey and her staff was fun, hip, and delicious -- we picked the PERFECT PARTY PLACE!
We loved Joe Dimaggios Restaurant in SF as it is our new place to go for great steaks and chops, and the Italian part was great too! Keep it up!
- Pros: hosptiality, service, personalized attention
- Cons: none at all...
Great Food, Service -- Wonderful
by LoveTheMidwest
We visited Joe DiMaggio's on 8/16/08 while on vacation in San Francisco. The six people in our party found the food to be exceptional and the service wonderful. The food was wonderful ... from the glass of wine right down to the hot tea after dinner. It was one of the best meals we've had since moving to CA 6 years ago. If you go to Joe DiMaggio's and don't enjoy the food then your taste buds must be "off".
The restaurant called the next day to see how our experience was. When was the last time that happened at another restaurant?
We highly recommend this restaurant. We will visit again on our next trip to San Francisco.
Cheapens the memory of the Yankee Clipper - he would HATE it
by alexandradixon
I have not eaten here, but I walked in the other day and looked around, and I was appalled. As a San Francisco native, I would NEVER be caught patronizing this restaurant.
I grew up in San Francisco's Marina District and used to see Joe DiMaggio on the street sometimes - he was so private, dignified and elegant, I never dared to bother him or even acknowledge that I knew who he was.
Let me tell you, the HUGE blown up photograph of Marilyn Monroe on the walls of this restaurant must have Joe DiMaggio turning over in his grave. He would HATE that his name and private life is being commercialized and cheapened like this. It's like "the Yankee Clipper Disneyland ride."
The maitre d' told me that one of Joe DiMaggio's granddaughters is a partner in this restaurant. Well, I guess she didn't inherit his sense of class, is all I can say.
Now I have a new favorite restaurant...

I cannot stop raving about my dining experience last Friday night 9/28/07. The most friendly and efficient wait staff from the bus boys to our excellent waitress, Kimberly. We also met the General Manager and were so impressed with her and her staff. We started off with the antipasto and the baked cambozola cheese appetizer. uumm delicious. Our entrees were the ribeye, veal marsala and the salmon with large portions with the parmessan potatoes au gratin. Each was outstanding. The dessert was a hazelnut ice cream with chocolate or caramel sauce with chocolate flakes on top. It was truly one of the finest dining experiences I have ever had and I am a native San Franciscan so that is saying something. I cannot wait for the next occasion to go there again. I think I will make up an occasion just to have the pleasure of another visit. You must go and it will be so worth it!!!!
- Pros: all highly recommended
- Cons: none
Thumbs up on Decor

The new Joe Di Maggio`s is a beautiful facility. The dark wood tones feel rich and the atmosphere is very lively. However, restaurants are only as good as their last bad meal.
Seated in the bar area. It was very loud. Our waitress was so busy she failed to show
up for about 15 minutes. One glass of wine and two martinis took nearly 20 minutes.
Finally we ordered dinner. Vongole was not in her vocabulary. She was totally confused.
We explained or order of Linguini and Clams and two Steaks. One steak was way overcooked. The Clams were like a rubber from being overcooked and the dish had
no sausage. The menu clearly states sausage in the Linguini. Oh by the way, the
broth was void of any flavor. On my mothers last bite of steak we given bread
with olive oil and herbs. Need I say for $180.00, I am in no hurry to return.
There are some wonderful Steak places in San Francisco. Try Alfreds or The House of
Prime Rib first........

Great Atmosphere and Surprisingly Great Food
by dina4queena
I've gone here twice and it has been great both times. This is probably one of my favorite places to go with a larger group. The first time I went on a team outing for work - I had the Sicilian Seafood Stew which was a great choice. The second time I went on a triple date and had the Braciole which was tender and served with polenta and marinara. I'm Italian and I wouldn't say any marinara is great but this sauce was delicious. I highly recommend the chocolate souffle for dessert but remember it takes 20 minutes. The waiter didn't tell us that so he gave it to us for free! Great service, cool atmosphere and good food.
great place

I recently visited JD's for a company Christmas party and had a blast. The building is very pretty with blown up old photographs all over the place. Very romantic dark lighting. We rented out a small side room appropriately named the Marilyn room, with pictures of her all over the place. The staff was friendly and the food was pretty tasty. Nice drink selection as well. Will be returning for a dinner of my own soon.
- Pros: atmosphere and food
- Cons: pricey
Loved it!

I was charmed by Joe DiMaggio's from the bar area through to the end of the meal. The design is really nice...a little old school charm...with dark woods and leather booths. The photos all around add to the ambiance. We spent some time at the bar before being seated and were charmed and entertained by the bartender. Drinks were great! Try the raspberry sidecar! Once seated, our server was so friendly, even though seemingly very busy. Our food came promptly...one of the steaks was overcooked, so it was sent back and fixed right away. I will definitely go back, even though I might just stay in the lounge area or at the bar.
- Pros: Ambience, Service, Cocktail Menu
- Cons: A little pricey
Dissapointing Service and VERY LOUD
by tinon
When we arrived, we were placed by the bathroom, after requested a booth a week an advance. No server, no placeware, no beverages, no menus (even after we asked). So anyhow we were seated elsewhere ... right by a party of about 20 teenagers yelling and screaming about makup or hairdos or something.
Food was good, but so is In-N-Out burger, so it was nothing to write home about.
After spending $120 or so and coming away with my ears ringing, I would skip it if I wanted to go to a nice place and eat some steak.
Try searching for some much better steakhouses, like Izzy's, etc. At least at Izzy's you get exactly what you expect.
- Pros: Can't I just leave this blank? I can't think of any
- Cons: Read my review
