Triple-decker nightclub features live DJs, go-go dancers and six VIP rooms.
by Joanna Currier
In Short
Made for slumming young locals and celebrities alike (the club is heavily linked to Tommy Lee), this triple-decker space is built for a raucous good time, trouble--or both. The first floor is painted to look like New Orleans, with verandas, a live-band stage and DJ booth. The second is space-age white, used as a canvas for light and projection shows, and boasts a ventilated, indoor smoking terrace. The VIP third floor features dancer poles, geometric couches and a suspended DJ table.

I was invited to be on the guest list, when I get there, I'm told there's no guest list. It goes down hill from there. $15 per person to get in. The bouncers were the most unfriendly people I've ever met, apparently they thought they were working at some sort of prison
When you walk in, you're on the main floor of...something. I don't know what it is, but there's nothing going on there. A bouncer yells at you to tell you that everything is on the second and third floor. When you go up to the second or third floor, you find out that the coat check is in the basement.
When we checked our coats, we then went up to get a drink. No one was at the bar ordering drinks yet we had to wait about 5 minutes before a bartender turned around to address us. When we were addressed it was for him to tell us that he was no longer on the clock. Once we finally got a simple vodka/tonic, I watched the bartender do a short count on the vodka then charge me $9 for a drink in a disposable cup.
The DJ was the only saving grace of the night as he was kicking butt. However, the dance floor was so unbelievably sticky that I was afraid that I would come out of my shoes if I moved the wrong way. There are two small white couches up against a wall that is a sad imitation of a Vegas VIP area. Someone was passed out on one of them.
As we left, we went to get our coats. The coat check girl had been smoking in the room the entire night, making sure that our jackets had the familiar rank smell of old smoke.
As we proceeded to leave, we were told that the exit was on the first floor. As we went to the first floor, we were yelled at that the first floor was closed. That must be how they keep the place semi-full.
It took a long time in SF for me to have a club experience that I consider to be "bad." Crash was the one that finally made it happen
- Pros: It's close to other places that are actually good.
- Cons: If the staff doesn't get you to leave, your own sense of self-respect will.
This place is really dirty!

It's gross. I've been there several times just to give it a chance, and before dissing it further I'll write the pros: the sound system is great, it sounds like a Vegas club; the DJ's and music are usually pretty good (all good except for this one guy at the Hard Eight party who mixed weird mash ups of new hip hop with old rock songs that didn't really have much of a beat), the go go dancers were hot, and the layout of the club is nice.
but it's gross. They need staff to be constantly cleaning the place, like they do at Pure in Vegas, if they want to pull off the Vegas image they are so desperately trying to pull off. There are pools of gross colored bodily liquids all over the dancefloor and pretty much everywhere in the club is dirty. Having plastic cups is one thing, maybe even a good thing since I've witnessed a few fights there, but plastic shot glasses are tacky (and something that I had no idea even existed until I went to Crash).
The location is terrible too, in the Tenderloin, so unless you're up for paying $25 for parking on top of the $15 cover (we did get on a guest list pretty easily though) and $10 drinks you'll be walking past many street urchins that are relieving themselves on the sidewalk with one hand while they harass you for change (at best) and make other gestures with the other hand.
I wouldn't completely write this club off, because it has a lot of potential. Hopefully they'll work out the kinks soon, personally I'll be taking a break for now and will give them another shot in a few months!
- Pros: ok music, good sound system
- Cons: gross, dirty, and I forgot to also mention that it's a sweaty hotbox
Skip it!

Last night, upstairs, Trevor Simpson and Dimitris Mykonos totally rocked the house! and there were guys who could actually dance, and good - tho alot of them danced with each other - what up with that?!? Okay, not all of them - I did dance with a few. Also the photogs were nice and fun -- projecting the photos on the wall is cool. The Samba dancers and drummers were blazing -- and i was lucky to be up front behind a photog for a bird's eye view -- but it was so dark and they were crowded in front of the DJ booth so most of the crowd could only see the feathers on their head.
Other than that, this place bites! The staff from doorman to security have a bad attitude. the ladies bathroom was flooded by 11P and stayed that way till closing. as the night played on, the crowd got aggressive and both men and women were pushing and shoving on the dance floor - plus upstairs, the pole dancers, while looking totally hot, were really lame dancers - no energy - just posers. The girls downstairs in their jeans and t's were totally red hot dancers!! simulating girl on girl s*x acts!
the bar was totally ridiculous to get a drink. I got shoved up against the bar and people behind me were screaming at each other "I was here first" and climbing over me while I was trying to pay. The same drink that was $6 at 11P suddenly was $8 at 1A....huh? not alot class here....next!
- Pros: Trevor Simpson & Dimitris Mykonos
- Cons: aggressive people who act like they've never been to a club before
Dj on main floor is playing for himself definitly not for the girls who want to dance
by pattitti
A great club when the DJ gets his head out of his butt and pays attention to what the croud responds to.
We go to Crash to dance to fun current or old hits that have a dance beat and make you feel sensual. When DJ's get into their little world of mixing and playing they tend to forget that there are people trying to dance. Each time a great dance song would get everybody up shakin, that stupid dj would cut into it with some rap junk, no- beat mixes. If he would have payed attention to the girls trying to get into the mood on the platform he would have known what to play and kept it going... it really ruins the whole experience when the art of scratching records and bumpin cuts of songs that aren't danceable takes priority over what makes the people (girls) wiggle, smile, rock and entertain! The drinks are over priced and the prices on the different floors are not consistant.
- Pros: different floors offering diff music, hot girls dress code enforced after hour time to wind down smoking room YEAH!
- Cons: drinks too expensive, Djs choice of destroying good dance tunes
Club Crash Rocks!

I have been there several times with my girlfriends and have been treated great by the staff everytime. The bartenders are great, and hot! The different parties on Saturdays are really cool, it's like going to a different club every time. I'm glad a Vegas style club has finally come to our city. Rock On!
- Pros: Staff is great and friendly. Love that they are open after hours.
- Cons: None
City's Worst! How did this place ever open in SF!!

Ok, I tried to give this place another chancewent there again with another group friends. Once again the door guy tried to play a fast one and charge us extra, cover was 15 I paid for me and friend so I gave him a 40 only to be looked at a few seconds as he decided I didnt want my change of course its hard work to give me my 10 back he needed a tip, he tired it with tw other friends!!! It was cool crowd so cant hate on people they were looking good!!! Music sounded like a bad radio station, sounds system is cool, but they play the same thing over and over again. Once again tried to get a drink, this time I let a friend MAYBE I was wrong about these bartenders, but no they tried to get my friends with a different scam by not putting any vodka in the drinks and once you ask for some because you could see nothing was put in the cup they try to charge you for a double. Once again security comes up asking you to pay or get thrown out, but luckily this time since 6 friends all complained about the same thing and handed them one drink to and show them exactly what we were talking about we got our drinks remade and just charged the normal price, WOW getting charged for what you actually ask for is amazing. Well I think this will be the last time I go but who knows maybe in another 4 months things will be better.
- Pros: NONE!!
- Cons: Dishonest door folk & bartenders, one bathroom
City's best!

This place is the new total hot spot. The temp on the second floor was blazing but I didn't care. This weekend I know not to wear as much:) The DJ's were great and kept me dancing all night. Hot bartenders, and great vibes from all the staff. Will totally go back!!! Had the best time- I felt like I was in Vegas...
- Pros: great, new, different
- Cons: hot upstairs
Awesome Dancing, Hot Bartenders, Beautiful Crowd

I noticed some of the reviews, but cmon, it was grand opening, wat did you expect to immediately walk in, you can't even do that at some of the clubs that have been around, unless you go to the Velvet Lounge or something like that. I noticed someone said they ran out of beer, well perhaps if you stood at one bar forever and drank it all, but i had no problem getting beer or drinks throughout the entire night and my group stayed until 2.
I agree the second floor was very hot, hopefully they will get that fixed, and since when can you just walk up to a VIP room and get it? You wanna get treated like VIP, you better have the cash for it too. The first room is kind of strange but i realized it's supposed to be a city, the top two floors, are really cool, white rooms.
awful night

held the line outside the club to make it look as if everybody in town wanted to get in.. and right as 10:30p rolls around (aka the same time they get to charge for cover) the line miraculously started moving.. then when you get in, they tricked ladies into paying $15 instead of the $10 that was stated in the confirmation email.. what bull!!
not even worth the wait or the wasted $15, it's a dump inside! the main floor is too small and the music changes every 5 seconds, so even if you like it, it changes too quickly, we must have heard the new christina aguilera song about 3 times in the 2.5 hours we were there.. the 2nd floor plays more loungy music and it's completely white and much too bright..
plus, they ran out of beer!
- Pros: no beer + bright lights = no beer goggles!
- Cons: dishonest door folk
