Best Waxing Ever
by mizzCarlaWilliams
I was referred to SenSpa by 2 friends for their discreet, professional brazilian wax. My first experience (not at SenSpa)was to say the least excruciating!! So much so that I never wanted to get another one, but my friends urged me to give it one more go and try Senspa. So I made an appt. to see Mary. She was outstanding! She made me feel so comfortable about a service that can be somewhat embarrassing and sometimes painful. What I didn't know was that the wax that is used has a lot to do with pain, redness and soreness in general. SenSpa uses hard wax. Mary is an expert and does a thorough and professional job.
I have also tried other services and have been very pleased.
I have NEVER had any problems with rude staff, in fact everyone is always very pleasant and never push any products on you. Its a 45 min drive for me and there have been several times that I have been a few minutes late, by calling to let them know they have always been very accomodating. I have never been turned away for being late.
I love this place!
- Pros: Parking, Staff, Cleanliness
- Cons: none
halleluja, the eagle has landed, facial wonderland
by redwood1234
I just moved here from NYC where I had who I thought was the best esthetician ever...well, "the eagle has landed!!!" and I have just found THE BEST, MOST AMAZING facials ever. The first time I went I had a facial with Camille. She is articulate and knowledgeable and knows how to massage my sad, withered face back into tip-top shape. She recommended a slew of supplements, which I am now happily taking (because I FEEL and SEE results!!!) and some excellent products (women, if you haven't used SkinCeuticals you must). The next time I went I couldn't get in with Camille so I went to Grace. Well, I have to say, JUST AS GREAT. Soft spoken but intelligent and sweet, what more could you want? She buffed my aging skin to that of a kindergartener. Excellent. I almost feel like trying everyone at SenSpa but I think for now I'll stick with these two. Try the Freestyle Facial. I had it both times and it was so thorough yet completely different both times-it's really cool and long!!!
- Pros: yummy snacks, cushy robes and blankets, comfy plush beds
- Cons: nada
Unbelieveably disappointed!
by sandrakirkwood
One of the worst experiences I have had at a spa. The front desk was RUDE beyond anything I have experienced. It was as if I was doing them a favor. The facial was so disappointing. It felt like the esthetician was just going through the motions. She did not give me a good explanation of the treatment, did not do thorough cleansing and when I went to check out and saw the bill I was floored. Sen Spa is so overpriced it is ridiculous. The military barracks should have been left for the military. I will never go back.. Do not be fooled by any of the hype.
- Pros: parking
- Cons: atmosphere was sterile, staff rude, SOOO overpriced, horrible
The best resort getaway in the city!
by yamm
I love this place. It's chic. The services are top notch. And the staff is really focused on delivering great service. I felt like I was at a five-star resort. Just as important, the super hydrating facial that I got was one of the best I've ever had. My skin was glowing for weeks. I'm a spa goer, have been to other day spas in town and nothing comes close.
- Pros: Best resort getaway in San Francisco
- Cons: None!
Will NEVER go back
by harryned
Been there 10-12 times. Good customer--referred friends, tipped, bought products.
Was 10 min late on a rainy day--rudely turned away, they kept ARGUING that it was way too tightly scheduled but that they wouldn't have time to get ready for a new customer. I sure didn't see that they cared one iota about this reapeat customer.
Yes, I was 10 min late.Funny, the afternoon of the day before when I made my appt. they asked if I wanted more treatments. I also have waited 10 min or more for previous appts. They sure didn't mention up front that they had a 3o min. window. I offered to forgo one of my treatments, not change, etc.
It was stressful and not fun.
Who needs it? Go to 77 Maiden Lane.
Awesome Massage - You have to go !
by melekalikimaka
Awesome massages - I think these guys are the "Stressbusters" !!
I have been several times now, saw a different person each time, EVERY massage was wonderful. The therapists are skilled, caring, friendly, and can answer questions about your body. I have been getting massages for years and have very high standards. I think they are so great because they are multi talented, some have medical or athletic training backgrounds and YEARS of experience so you get a true therapeutic massage. You can tell that they love what they do. This is my new favorite place. I love that you can add Aromatherapy to your massage for no extra cost and the oils are organic, the pink grapefruit is my favorite. Sen Spa is gorgeous and large, and what is unusual for a day spa in this city, is there are actually places bigger than a closet to relax in while enjoying yummy organic snacks. It amazes me that they have filtered water throughout, I think this means they have the healthiest steam rooms in the city. They have a great choice of massages and even offer some techniques not listed on the menu like cranio sacral, myofacial, even lymph drainage ( you just have to ask the front desk staff ) when booking your appointment. I cant wait to go back and get the steamy herbal pack Thai massage witj lemongrass ginger foot ritual, or the Japanese body ritual, or maybe the Island treatment with the hawaiian massage where they use this oil that smells just like a fresh flower lei ! I think that soon I will have to try a wellness coaching session to get in better shape or try some Tibetan healing and an Ayurvedic facial.
- Pros: Ambience, happy staff, parking, open till 9pm during the week, comfortable massage tables, organic products & snacks, front desk open on Mondays so you can buy gift certificates or make appointments
- Cons: Spa closed on Mondays, could be hard for some to find, SenSpa website directions are the best to use
First impression terrible - inflexible and snotty receptionist
by alysialee
Okay, to be fair, I didn't actually go to the spa, but I wanted to. The receptionist I spoke with was snotty. I am arranging a small party for a good friend and three others so inquired about reservations for five people -- completely flexible on the mix of services we received. She said they "don't do group reservations on weekends because they cannot fit in their regular clients." I said we were a small group willing to spread our services over 3 hours, and she said, "I'm sorry, now that I know you're a group, I cannot make five reservations for you. You'll have to call back separately." It would have been palatable if she hadn't been so snotty in delivering this message. I then asked for my own personal manicure, and she said (snotty again) "We don't do pedicures and manicures." Overall, a pretty bad first impression. I don't think I'll go there or recommend it. We'll give our business elsewhere.
- Pros: Looks like a nice place
- Cons: Not the nicest person on the phone - inflexible
run here for a facial
by starfish12
Run to SenSpa for the facial they do with the hydrating tip thingee. I think it's called the Super Hydrating Facial. i've never had anything like it in my life. I mean it. Your skin will look better than it has ever looked. I'm not kidding. My mother even told me so.
- Pros: gorgeous interior, good snacks, awesome fireplace
Great Massage Changed My Life
by fizzlesnit
Recently, I had a wonderful massage at SenSpa. The practitioner was professional and helpful. She educated me about stress relief during the first part of the massage, but then stopped talking and just let me relax. The snacks are organic. The showers are incredible. The environment is peaceful. This is on my list of places to visit again soon. I left there feeling like I'd been totally renewed, and carrying tools to stave off the stresses of life on a daily basis.
- Pros: great staff, clean & relaxing, organic snacks
- Cons: expensive
Do not go there
by sfcary
my expierience was less that averege. My massage was amature and okward...I wanted to jump up and leave. parts of it even hurt. I know this place is new, but there are plenty of more professional choices if you want a truely legit massage. When I brought up my issue to a "manager" she dismissed my issues and acted like I was a nobody. I don't even think the so-called manager was who she said she really stated.
- Pros: easy to get into (red flag)
- Cons: parking
