Simply the best cocktail in town
by th56 at Citysearch
Naya and the team take extreme pride in what the do behind the bar and it shows. Order the Manhattan special with a selection of bitters that shows off how creative it can be, or the death at dusk for a bubbly adventure. The food is basic but very good and the service is efficient without being too overly present or missing in action.
- Pros: good food to go with expertly crafted cocktails
- Cons: parking can be a challange, and sometimes it's way to loud
We were pleased and would definitely go back again.

A friend of mind recommended this restaurant and so I took several friends there this past Thursday. Due to lack of reservations though, our wait was a bit longer than usual as we were told, but they did comp us with free french fries, which was congenial, we thought. The atmosphere was fun enough for our lively group, and it was good to get friendly, knowledgeable service from the waiter (very knowledable on the food and what wines to pair with it). Overall, we were pleased and would definitely go back again.
Simply brilliant...

I was taken to Nopa last weekend by a friend who used to be a chef there, and the food absolutely shined. The fried fish was great, but the flatbread stole show for appetizers - house-made bacon, zuccini and goat cheese on an impossibly thin perfectly crispy crust. It was amazing. We shared everything - salad, pork chop, and halibut, and it was all fresh and very impressive. The pork chop was brined and then expertly grilled - it was phenomenal. We didn't have room for dessert, but they make the best sazerac I've had and my dining partners were equally happy with their libations. The next time I'm in SF I'm making a beeline for this place.
- Pros: Food, cocktails
- Cons: Sometimes a long wait for a table
Late night feasting left me full and wanting more!!
by drmata at Citysearch
Got there late on a Saturday night without a reservation, and was seated immediately at the Chefs bar. Had three appetizers: 1)Warm Goat Cheese-Fabulous, melted in my mouth; 2)Flat Bread-Satisfied my carb cravings and had great flavor, similar to a this pizza crust without the cheese; 3) Fries-Unique and good Garlic Aioli sauce; 4) Shaved Asparagus-This was the best, full of flavor and fun! Overall, the experience was great. Never felt rushed or was looking for the server. The late night dining experience was fabulous!
- Pros: The atmosphere and great service
- Cons: I could not stop eating!!
disappointing

was taken here by a good friend of mine and from the hype that i was told about, it was indeed just all hype. the fried fish appetizer was good, but i think it's hard to mess up anything fried. but i will give it to them anyway. the halibut was subpar to say the least. although the asparagus was perfectly cooked. the churros was also good. overall, i would not recommend this place.
Excellent all around

I don't know what the others are talking about. I have been to Nopa 4 times and it's been consistently excellent every time. Charming waiters(resses), excellent customer service, delicious food and wine, decent prices and wonderful atmosphere. All the ingredients you need for a great night out. I've taken friends and family there and it's quickly become one of their favorite restaurants in the city. One of my favorite dishes is the Moroccan Vegetable Tagine - yummy! Highly recommend this place.
I know its trendy but its an awesome restaurant!

Great food, amazing ambience, fantastic drinks and centrallly located. I love this place, but wish the prices were more reasonable.
disappointing service ad food

i've been to nopa three times over the last year. my first time was the best probably because it was soon after its opening...
the last two were mediocre. even with a reservation, we had to wait almost half an hour for our table. once seated, it took over ten minutes to get a server and drinks. on top of that, we received an undercooked pork chop and when we asked nicely to have it cooked bit more, our waitress was very rude. i like pink pork, but this was totally RARE...
on the plus side, the cocktails, flatbread, and beans were all delicious.
i would go back to sit at the bar for some flatbread, but i'm saving my money for a better experience!
Why bother?
by gagne12 at Citysearch
Why do people come here? I live in the neighborhood, and have been to NOPA several times. Every time, I think to myself, "Why do I come here?" The service has always been sub-par, and the food has been very inconsistent. Anyway, I won't go into details, just don't bother with this restaurant.
- Pros: Close by, I guess
- Cons: Not worth the money, terrible atmosphere and service. Just OK food.
Unexpected!

I expected more from this place based on all the reviews. I went with my friends a month ago, the service/ambiance was excellent. we ordered several appetizers which I really enjoyed... that's about it. We tried 4 different entrees(Vege tagine, Halibut, pasta and something else)it was so plain, nothing special. i was not impressed. Some of my friends had mixed drinks and they really loved it.
- Pros: Ambiance
- Cons: Entrees
