I recently had a bad experience at this salon. I wanted a light perm (body wave) and cut. Being new to the area, I did some online research and called the salon for an appointment. The cranky male receptionist was completely useless in recommending which stylist I should see. I told him I need a stylist who would be good with long, thick hair and perms. He literally would not offer any suggestions and kept insisting he wouldn't be able to pick one stylist over the other. I think someone hasn't explained his job to him. After 5 or 10 minutes of this, he finally remember that only Wayne does perms there. Great. The day of the appointment, Wayne didn't impress much more than the cranky receptionist. He wasn't necessarily rude, but not friendly or helpful either. Not one smile, no cheer, I felt as if my presence was a bother to him. We discussed what I wanted and I told him I didn't want curly hair-- just a light wave-- and he told me he couldn't do my perm that day since the only rods they had were for spiral perms (what decade is this, anyway?). I had made my appointment days ahead and tried to explain on the phone what I wanted, which didn't seem too out of the ordinary a service for a hair salon. After all the trouble I had taken to research a place and get there, I was told I'd have to come back another day. I was still trying to be okay with them and let them know I was leaving town and needed an appointment in the next five days before my vacation. Wayne had no appointments in that time span -- and they did not offer to accommodate me at all, even though they had totally wasted my time. They lost my business and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Cons: Cranky receptionist, bad communication, bad service

I recently booked my first appointment at Keter Salon and really enjoyed my experince. I hadn't had my haircut in a while and found Keter online so I decided to check it out. When I called to book I was greeted by a guy receptionist who was very helpful and a bit funny. Anita gave me a fabulous haircut taking care to heed all my concerns. I am happy with Keter all the way around and look forward to my next visit.

4 stars for service 2 stars for price I really enjoyed my recent experience at Keter, with a few exceptions. When I called and made my appointment the gentleman who I spoke with was rude and unfriendly. Because it was my first visit I almost cancelled because I thought he was not so nice. Upon arrival, I met my stylist who was incredibly friendly and did a great overall job on my hair (cut and highlights) When checking out though, the not-so-nice guy at the desk charged me more than he quoted over the phone! I'm happy with my hair but not 100% convinced that I want to go back... If I do go back I will make sure to confirm all prices up front so that I am prepared without too much sticker shock (it was significantly more expensive than my former salon in SF).

Pros: Nice, sunny atmosphere

Cons: Parking can be tough, front desk guy

I was greeted with smiles and expectancy. Offered a cozy cup of tea, or water- after I accepted the h20, it was also a choice of temperature! I was delighted (due old sensitive teeth) "room temperature" I requested. The assistants and front desk made me feel completely tended to while I anticipated meeting my new stylist, Rebecca. I had recently gone through quite a rough new do @ festoon but my nerves were just disipated ripples in a pond as I was pleasantly ushered to her chair. the chemistry was so warming. I had never bonded in a salon before, but it seems all of the staff have enthusiam, as well it is filled with unique people and down to earth help. my shampoo was luxurious and soothing, Kaylee explained in detail the product benefits for my color and texture of hair. On top of being a fabulous salon I also was informed on their trainning program that seems to give a one-of-a-kind comprehension. I will take pride in directing strangers, friends, and family to MY SALON.

I can't say enough good things about Diana and Keter salon. I've been a client of Diana's for nearly 5 years and am amazed at her creativity and ability to give an stylish contemporary cut every time. I'm a mom with two young kids, so I don't have much time to browse through magazines these days, but I want to stay current and stylish. I find that Diana always gives me a great cut and her color is magnificent! Whether I'm out on the town or running around the playground I always feel hip! Diana is worth her weight in gold!! BMP

I've been letting my sister experiment on my hair for years with hair color out of the box. It finally caught up with me in a bad way. I went to Keter with really dry, damaged, brassy-colored hair. Tracy didn't balk, she asked me what I was looking for and told me what she envisioned. I came out with there with a rich natural color and a healthy looking shine. I would highly recommend her services to anyone, she's an expert! On top of having fabulous color, I also learned a new styling technique. The salon assistant, Hilary, couldn't have been more excited to get her hands on my curly mess. I've met very few stylists who are this excited to take on the challenge of my impossible curls. It was AWESOME! She taught me how to twist my hair for a super-easy funky style. My experience at Keter far exceeded my expectations. I've already booked my next appointment :)

I decided to try a new salon because my stylist for years kept on doing the same old thing - she never had new ideas ! I walked into Keter Salon on a whim while I was shopping on 4th Street and booked an appointment with their color specialist, Tracy. I had no idea what a "specialist" was, but I do now! WOW! I didn't want a total makeover, just to look modern and beautiful. Tracy listened to me and then shared with me her "vision" of what my hair could look like. And then it happened! It's amazing how subtle changes make all the difference. My hair is brilliant and beautiful, yet still natural and believable. I'll never be that boring reproduction of a stagnant stylist again. You can bet I'm going back to Tracy - she's not stuck in a rut and now, neither am I.

Pros: They're open on Sundays!

Cons: Are you kidding?

A couple weeks ago my friend got an amazing haircut. She said she had gone to this newer hair stylist named Yesenia at Keter salon in Berkeley. When I called I asked for the newer stylist and they were able to schedule me in later that day. The minute I got there I totally loved the feel of the place. I was a bit nervous since I usally go to the city for my cuts. So I was very happy to see that she was ON TIME!!!! Most salons make you wait 20 or 30 minutes before they even pay attention to you. She really listened to me and made me feel at ease when she was cutting my hair.(By the way I have a ton of hair) She was able to give me alot of information on how to maintain my hair healthy. And she gave me the best style I have ever had. All in all I had the best experience ever!!!! Also I didn't have to commute all the way to the city and pay an arm and leg for superior service.. I highly recommend Yesenia she's freaken fabulous!!!

After asking a woman on the street who colored her hair, I found out about Tracy at Keter Salon in Berkeley. I was lacking the beautiful highlights that makes strangers ask "Who does your hair?" I immediately made an appointment - thank God she's available evenings - and I've never been more satisfied with my color. I was so glad I bugged that woman on the street! I had no idea that my hair could look so good, and now I'm a fan for life. She really listened to me and gave me exactly what I needed. Next time I'm just going to tell her to do whatever she wants, because she obviously knows what she's doing. So if you ever see me on the street, I'm the one with the beautiful highlights!

Pros: Cute area for shopping and lunch

Cons: Sometimes parking is nuts

Get a special treat for your hair with stylist Wayne Garsky. He takes his time, carefully checks out what needs to be done and with his expert touch does whatever is needed which can be a cut, highlight or touch up. I love the atmosphere at Keter. Relaxing, melodious, and comfortably chatty. As you can tell I enjoy going to Keter and feel privileged that I can even walk there from my home. HIgh fives for Keter and highly recommended by this long time customer.
