No Hummus For You!
by kender_us
The place was totally empty, yet they refused to sell us a plate of hummus without the sausage. The harissa butter was both frozen and disgusting. and the fennel bread was so revolting as to be inedible. My tagine resembled tasteless chicken jerky, and I had to beg the owner to remove it from the bill, despite the fact that I had eaten about two bites before sending it back. My husband's lamb was equally lacking in flavor. I have been to Morocco and to many Moroccan restaurants besides, and this was easily one of the worst restaurants I have EVER had the misfortune to stumble upon. The service was fine, but that was because we were the only occupied table in the entire restaurant. Clearly everyone else knew something we didn't. We fled before dessert, and I will never return.
- Pros: We escaped!
- Cons: The food, unwillingness to accomodate their only customers
great service and atmosphere

Went there on a weekday evening for dinner and was surprised to see the place a bit empty so i was skeptical of the food, but I was very impressed! Service was wonderful for the waiter paid much attention to detail. I had the snapper and my friend had the lamb, bother were delightful and well worth the price! Very romantic and intimate.
- Pros: Food and service
- Cons: a little bit quiet

What a pleasant surprise and nice addition to this corner of the mission. Very sophisticated food, good flavors, good service reasonably priced wine list..I could go on and on. We casually walked in with a group of 4 last night and were blown away by the food: appetizer-loved the chicken bastilla and eggplant; entre-I have the Lamb Tajine which was very well done, snapper was good as well as the shrimp brocchettes. Dessert was good although we only tried one-the crumble. We will go back as I think this is one of our new favorites.
- Pros: Food, Wine, Service
- Cons: None
Hit and Miss

At our table of four, the best dish was the Kobe Beef Kefta. The salmon and snapper were too fishy and/or dry but the vegetable stew was solid albeit boring. The harira soup and Marguez Sausage were good. If I were to go back, it would only be for those dishes. The atmosphere is nice, with many candles lit in the evening. Service was perfect.
- Cons: hit and miss
Great contemporary Moroccan
by mike_maier
I'm a neighborhood local and this is one of my favorites - tasty menu, elegant atmosphere with friendly staff. The lamb tagine, salmon, or snapper are all my top entre picks. The wine list is a strong match for the spicy menu, and the desserts are a great finish. Check it out quick before this place is crowded nightly. I've been there at least 6 times and still go frequently.
- Pros: Not expensive, Noe/Mission location, Not crowded yet
excellent restaurant!!!!

I had dinner at Zagora for the first time last night!!! Both my friend and I throughly enjoyed our meals! Also, I am a vegetarian and was delighted to have several different and interesting options to choose from on the menu. The staff was pleasent and friendly and the chef came around to all the tables to inquire how our meal was. The deserts were beautiful and decadent! I look forward to eating here again soon!!!!!
- Pros: nice atmosphere, great food, nice wine list
Morrocan food in the Mission
by neighborhood_gourmet
We've been to this pleasant restaurant a couple times now and can highly recommend it. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and interesting. We loved the lamb tajine with succulent spiced meat just falling off the bone. We also enjoyed the chicken appetizer and banana desert. Staff are friendly and always happy to help you through the menu.
Moroccan Fusion
by lynnfriedman
It's definitely elegant Moroccan dining with the music and decor. The food is incredible, especially the hummus and the fish. Many dishes give a nod to asian/ california cuisine. Great place to have a special romantic dinner or night out with the gang. The service is excellent and friendly. I found parking on the street each visit. There is a lot one block away, enter on 21st betw Guerrero & Valencia, walk out 22nd street. Should call ahead for large groups. This would be a great place to rent out for a private party.
- Pros: ambiance, food, service
Moroccan cuisine gets a contemporary spin at this cozy Mission eatery.

In Short
A cooly elegant dining room is filled with couples and neighborhood locals digging into spice-laden plates. Servers deliver dishes such as lamb tajine, lamb shank slow roasted with apricots, dry prunes and toasted goma seeds, and wok-fired snapper served with Moroccan caper berries, artichokes and olives. Sweet endings include a sweet custard trio (mint, rosewater and date) and a North African take on a Southern favorite--warm apricot cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream.
