My overall shopping experience at Sphere wasn't bad - no one was rude or curt, but the sofa did take about 2 weeks longer than it was supposed to, and when it arrived, it had the wrong legs on it. The correct legs took another couple weeks to arrive. The sofa is great - comfortable, cool-looking, with nice leather. I also bought 2 benches and 2 chairs - the finish on these pieces leaves a lot to be desired. They all began chipping almost immediately due to a very weak veneer finish. They're heavy, which gives the impression of being durable, but the surfaces scratches if you breathe on it. I got them in chocolate, and underneath the dark coat is a very light, soft wood which has shown up all over the pieces like the worst case of chicken pox you've ever seen. I am happy with the leather seating surfaces, though - it's thick and comfortable; too bad the wood isn't the same. All in all, I say 3 stars - the sofa I'd give a 4 or 5; the chairs and benches would get a 2. Side note - I'm a little leary that 2 of the 5-star glowing reviews come from users with only one review each - seems a little fishy...

My experience with this business was similar to the first reviewers but it seems so much worse... I have never EVER received service as poor as I did from Nick and Michelle. Not only did they not deliver my couch when they told me they would, but they didn't even bother to call to apologize or schedule a new time. I had to call them to do that. And take 2 - the couch didn't showed up again. I had to call to ask where it was. When it finally did come (over an hour late), the delivery guy actually told me that Nick had told him to load everything into the truck to prepare for the following week BEFORE making my delivery to the East Bay - which means that he KNEW that my delivery would be late, but obviously didn't value my business enough to even call and let me know about the delay. Which I would have been completely understanding about had he done so! I was also spoken to very harshly when I brought up my frustration. I am a soft spoken person, so I was competely taken aback by an utter lack of professionalism or even just plain decency- I mean, if you are a business owner and you make a mistake, shouldn't you at least apologize with sincerity for your error? Maybe they thought crediting me the delivery charge meant that I should be grateful. I was so appalled that months later, the experience still makes me feel nauseous to recall. I think their product is a decent value, but I will never set foot in their store again - there are plenty of places to buy good quality furniture for great prices in a place like the Bay Area.

Cons: service....my goodness...could it get any worse...

Just bought a loft in DogPatch, hence do not have much money left over to furnish my place. . . found a great new shop in my hood called Sphere Designs Furniture. The styles are hip, the prices are basically wholesale prices, and the quality is just as good as any pottery barn, crate and barrel, room and board, design within reach, you get the point. They have a lot in stock--especially sofas and a great color options. (funky colors are special orders that take about 8 weeks). Anyway, funished my whole place for the price of a sofa elsewhere. Don't waste your money til you check out Sphere!

Pros: friendly, helpful , great options

Cons: very busy

I just moved to San Francisco from New York and had to part with my furniture because shipping costs would have left me homeless. So i started the dreadful process of looking for new stuff. Thankfully, I didn't waste too much time. I walked into Sphere, where i was warmly greeted. The salespeople (are the owner of this store) were super helpful. I left the store with a new living room, bedroom, and dining room--for what a coffee table would have cost me at Limn!! High quality, cool styles, CHEAP prices!!

Pros: Great customer servic, Top Quality, Great Selection

I've shopped Sphere Designs on many occassions and have come away more impressed with each experience. The store has grown quickly providing a larger selection, a wider range of services, and a continued dedication to provide the best quality furniture at the lowest prices. Although the store is generally busy, the owners always find time to answer questions and make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. Give Sphere Designs a shot--I'm sure you'll be glad you did.

Pros: Selection, Prices, Customer Service

I love this place! I got the best couch from these guys. It's really comfy and they were able to deliver it to me the following day. I think my couch would have cost 2-3 times more anywhere else and the quality seems to be just as good. They also have other pieces of furniture that I'll be going back for once I get some more money. I highly recommend this spot for your furnishing needs.

I was excited when I first found SDF. They offer good furniture pieces at competitive prices. However, their customer service and professionalism leave a lot to be desired. The sofa I ordered required an 8 week waiting period. After 9 weeks, SDF and I agreed to a specific delivery time. Less than an hour before the time of delivery, SDF called to say that I wouldn't receive the sofa that day. Considering that I'd purchased many pieces from and had referred friends to SDF, I was disappointed by their defensive and unapologetic tone over the phone. During the call, I learned that they'd known for a couple of days that they wouldn't be able to deliver as promised. After arranging another delivery date, SDF arrived an hour late, without any notification. While their prices may be decent, this entire experience was very upsetting and I won't be returning.

Pros: Prices, Build quality

Cons: Selection, Customer service, Communication
