An overpriced salon with obnoxious receptionists
by msnetkova
I kid you not, please don't go. For this price, there are MUCH better places! Not only was my pedicure sub-par, but the receptionist kicked me out of my seat while my nails were still drying. She needed my seat, she said. After paying almost $100?
Below average for the price

I go to Zaza quite often, as it's right across from the building where I work. From outside, I've always been intrigued by the decor and the ambiance. That's why I tried it in the first place. Inside, none of them were disillusioning; the place is quiet, relaxing and clean, but the staff was not what you expect for the price. They look at you as if you were disturbing their discussion upon entering. Twice, my nails were not done in the shape I had asked for (square nails instead of round - although I had specified it --- the second time even drawing it!). The massage was not particularly good - the first neighborhood joint at the corner of your house may be better. Nonetheless, the waxing services are good (for the price). All in all, there are tons of other better nail spas in the city.
Absolute Heaven on Earth

What can I say about this place that hasn't been said before? I almost WISH my polish would chip so I could go back before my two week waiting period! The place is so cute, so relaxing, and everyone there is so sweet. All the girls do such a terrific job on my nails, I could probably go more than 2 weeks before going back, but I'm so in love with the treatments that I have to have my fix! It's also great to go to a place where there are familiar faces! Dijon and Michelle are great gals-they bring me my spice tea without me even asking. I love knowing I can get a 5 star treatment without burning holes in my pockets! You may want to make an appointment, though, they get real busy. It's not a hole-in-the-wall "Mimi's Nail" type of place, so don't get your hopes up for a walk-in appointment.
- Pros: friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, great product, VERY sanitary
- Cons: parking....yuk
Wouldn't go back, even though its around the corner from me...

Well, it looked really lovely inside, but I had anything but a lovely experience. The receptionists were really unfriendly and hardly even said hello, and the woman who did my bikini wax had all the sensitivity of a pro wrestler. She was very efficient and nice, but didn't listen to what I wanted and went over the same area repeatedly (a big no-no for sensitive areas). I felt like I got $20 service for a $50 fee.
- Pros: Lovely Ambiance
- Cons: Service, price, skill level of staff...
Mediocre work at best
by lchin007
Went here with 2 girlfriends a few days ago and my first impression was "NICE" very clean and modern. The receptionist was nice and friendly. It was a good experience until I got my mani/pedi. IT WAS HORRIBLE! for $75 not including tips all i had was my nails filed, cuticle clean, and polished. Maybe it was because I had short nails to begin with so they couldn't cut/trim it but they played it off as if they were working on my nails by filing it down even shorter! and it HURTS! Nails can only be so short until it feels like they're sanding down your skin and my cuticles didn't look like it cost me $40. Their massage was below average. I will not go back. I like to hop around and check out different nail spa and this by far is mediocre. The chair is comfortable but that's not what I'm paying for. Other than that the place is nice, but that's about it. But you be the judge. $75 to have them buffer and clean your cuticles is it worth it? they didn't even use the clipper on me just a nail file!
- Pros: Nice decor
- Cons: Unskilled staff and pricy
Best client lunch alternative

ZaZa's is a friendly, relaxing environment. The staff is very professional and attentive. It's super clean too! I love to bring client's there for "lunch" and enjoy a great mani/pedi.
Great Mani and Pedi!

I'm just visiting San Francisco and decided to treat myself to a mani and pedi. Checked online and found some great reviews for Zaza Nail Spa, so I decided to try it out. I was pleased with the ambiance and environment of the salon, modern and clean. The chairs were incredible, large, comfy and very soft. The nail techs were very thorough and pleasant to talk to. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone.
- Pros: Very clean and sanitary, great environment, love the chairs
ZAZA Fabulous!
by bluestarfish1
ZAZA Nail Spa is fabulous. The experience starts with a warm greeting by a hostess then just gets better from there. Staff is well-trained. Tools are sterilized. 5-star experience with great value! I most definitely will bring all of my girlfriends AND my "girlfriends" to ZAZA. Top the experience off with some really unique products then treat yourself more by going across the street to Jeremy's. Fabulous!
- Pros: Skilled staff, Sterilized tools, Ambiance
- Cons: Parking (take CalTrain)
Average Service and Way Above Average Price
by gothicarose
I've been meaning to try out ZaZa for a while now, and today when my usual mani/pedi spot was unavailable for appointments (and a wedding this weekend) I finally booked that pedi at ZaZa.
I probably should have waited an gone to my usual later on in the week. I called, and the girl was pretty accomodating about getting me an appointment right away. Since I live in the neighborhood, I walked to my appointment. Good thing, because as I was getting seated, the front desk girl came and asked if I was parked out front, because they were about to tow a car away. The person getting her nails done in front of me said it was her car and the front desk girl helpfully offered to move her car. Unfortunately the tow guy refused to let her move it. Moral of the story: parking is terrible; Take MUNI and walk it.
Checking in was fairly quick and easy, but when I asked for an add on massage, the other girl said they didn't have time. Sorry. I was dissappointed, especially since it was busy, but not packed.
I went with the ZaZa Pedi, replete with Red Flower lotion and a massage.
Nail treatment was pretty average, and the massage was almost an afterthought. My 45 minute treatment probably included wait time and dry time. I waited for the relaxation to overcome me, but I never had a chance to unwind. The technician did my nails in a whambamthankyouma'am manner, although she was never rude or snippy. She wore gloves the entire time, and the overall impression I got was that it was a pretty clean, well decorated place.
For almost $50 I got the kind of "star treatment" I would get at any other rinky dink nail salon anywhere else in the city for a fraction of the price. In fact, on another last minute wedding occassion, I got the same deal treatment at a hole in the wall place for $25!
The rave reviews are probably from folks that don't know any better. For the price, its below average and for the services, also below average. Seek out better treatment elsewhere.
- Pros: Beautiful space, Leather chairs and High End Products: Red Flower, Opi etc.
- Cons: Average service, Overpriced, NO PARKING
Average experience at higher than avg prices

Zaza offers a great atmosphere but the service has a lot to be desired for their price point. I go to mani pedis mainly for the massage and pampering and this element of their service has a lot to be desired. Very short and not very skilled. I also find them missing some key things I love about other salons (which offer better service for less money) like hot towels, warmed lotion, etc. It's just okay....but there are too many places in SF that at much better for your money.
- Pros: Visually pleasing, very sanitary
- Cons: Terrible massage and pampering element, nearly impossible to find parking less than $40 during ballgames,
