Remington Moving and Storage

I called Remington and was given a flat rate quote for a move from Oakland to LA. They were supposed to show up between 1-3pm. At 3pm they called and said it would be closer to 5pm. At 5 Pm they called and said it would be "an hour to an hour and a half". The finally showed up at 8pm. The driver came in and looked at my apartment and told me that they would have to charge me $500 extra or refuse the job. I refused and said I expected them to move me things for the agreed upon price. They went back to the truck and called me from a cell phone and told me that my things wouldn't fit in the truck and they would call me the next morning. Nobody ever called me and no calls to the office were returned. Avoid these people like the plague!

I scheduled my move for a 9-11am window, however they showed up at 1:30pm. They were very slow at moving my furniture and my boyfriend and I finally had to help unwrap the furniture since they were taking so long. One of the movers also made an inappropriate comment to me while I was alone with him in an elevator which was very uncomfortable. I will say they did a good job wrapping the furniture to prevent damage, but they slammed a door into a wall at my new apartment which left an indent in the paint. I was not satisified.

I got a similar experience as the previous reviewers in that they called and quoted me one thing and once they got there, there would be an extra charge to move my goods. The workers were painfully slow and I had to help out just to move by daylight. I was then billed for "extra paper used" and when I asked about that and refused to pay for it, they said and I quote, "We'll see you in court." Please don't have the same terrible experience as myself and avoid them!!!

Cons: Broke goods, arrived late, lazy work

One word to explain how i feel... AWESOME!! the best i have ever used and i have moved a lot for work!! No hidden fee's everything was upfront and honest!!

I used this co. due to citysearch's ratings. The movers were scheduled for 9-11 and showed up at 3:30. They didn't disassemble some of my furniture, instead literally forced it out the door. I was scared to have them move anything bulky upstairs due to potential damage.

Pros: Nice guys

These guy were great! After i received my confirmation e-mail i received an e-mail with my movers phone number so i was able to contact them before my move day. My move was time efficient and nothing was damaged. It was just an all around good experience. I highly recommend these movers to everyone!

This is a good company. I got an email with the rates they told me while I was still on the phone with the girl at the office. The guys were on time and clearly did this day in and day out. The crew checked out my place at the start and then swung into action. I had the "moving jitters" when they arrived but after about ten minutes of the crew being there I relaxed and let them get on with it.

These guys are definitely good movers! They blanket wrap everything before they move it which meant everything arrived in one piece. This was a big difference to a lot of the moves I have done in the past when the movers dinged up my stuff! They arrived in their window and the crew seemed to enjoy their work - I'm not sure how hauling stuff up stairs can be fun but they seemed to enjoy themselves. Highly recommended.

We hired Remington to move from a one bedroom apartment in San Francisco to Fresno, California. Overall, we were dissatisfied with Remington's service: their quote was inaccurate, the movers showed up two hours late, and they had not bothered to look up driving directions. Remington's quote of $800 to $900 included two hours of loading time, 45 minutes to unload, and six to seven hours for the 190 mile drive from SF to Fresno and back. But, instead of arriving between 9 and 10 am as scheduled, the movers showed up at 11:50 am. After the movers had seen the apartment, I asked them if the total cost would be in line with their quote; I was assured that it would be. However, the movers took longer than they said they would. At the end of the day, we were handed a bill for $1,141, which included three hours of loading time, one hour to unload, and nine hours round trip for a drive that normally takes three hours each way. We went with Remington because their quote of $800 to $900 was several hundred dollars less than their competitors. However, Remington pulled a bait and switch, billing us for $1,141, around one-third higher than their quote. To add insult to injury, when we called Remington to discuss the situation, they never called us back.

Moving is such a stressful and difficult process, but our Remington movers made our move so easy and stress free. They were truly great. They wrapped all of our belongings and furniture and were soooo careful with everything; they even wrapped our couches without being asked, and didn't charge us for it. They treated our belongings as if they were their own. Our movers were the nicest guys and totally professional. I could tell they really take pride in their work. If I ever have to move again I definitely plan to choose Remington movers, and have already started recommending them to family and friends. If any potential customers ever want to contact past customers for recommendations I'd be happy to be a reference; they can contact me (Dane Klein) at Danemk at aol dot com.
