My friends and I had our birthday party here two Saturdays ago. We rented the VIP Lounge upstairs and had a fabulous time. It is one of the best VIP areas I've seen in a myriad of the clubs I've been to in S.F. A lot of room and comfortable booths to sit...even a bed if you want to lounge with your friends. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodated our needs. the music was perfect (hip hop, reggae and dance hall) and got the party moving. they even have speakers in the VIP Lounge so you can hear what is going on without having to go to the dance floor which was quite crowded on this particular night. The main room with the bar is cool too and the booths lining the wall are comfortable and provide an excellent way to see and be seen. I'll definitely be returning to Duplex for other parties (they have different music different nights of the week), as I love the intimate lounge atmosphere which is more typical of NYC then here in S.F. I suggest you check it out too--I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Pros: good music, cool vibe, excellent VIP booths, lounge
Cons: crowded on certain nights
