Romantic, great food
by conwayj
i have been a regualar at Bia's now for the last 3 years.
it is my favourite places to eat on the haight.
The have excellent food, i love the persian dishes, kofta, yogurt chicken and of course the stuffed pepper and eggplant.
brunch on weekends is very busy, garden is cute.
dinner is also very tasty.
you can come in and chill out from the hustle of haight street, have a glass of wine and spend a nice evening there with friends.
the staff on every occasion I have been there are very accomadating and sweet.
i would highly recommend it.
food is really good here!
- Pros: garden, food, ambience, sangria
- Cons: parking on haight street
Unbelievably bad...how is this place in business?
by pgirlr
While so much of Haight St. is overpriced and aimed at tourists, there can be no greater a quandry than how this place still exists. I picked it as a central location for Sunday brunch with friends and I didn't want to wait an hour at Zazi. Mistake! There was one waiter in the whole place (not that there were that many people, but still). He was sloooooooowwwww as molasses, the food and coffee was minimal and cold and wilting. I was just so disappointed and embarrassed for picking it. Don't even bother, with so much goodness up the street in Cole Valley, Bia's is a waste of time and money.
- Pros: ?
- Cons: the entire experience
Beware Bad Food and Belligerent Waitress/Owner
by mzfinks
This was by far the worst experience in a restaurant I've ever had-- the waitress yelled at me and actually kicked me out for asking to see the check!
After halfheartedly picking at a wilting salad drowned in mediocre dressing, and drinking a flat soda, I sat at a rather grimy corner table reading a book. After clearing away my plate, the waitress, who claimed to be the owner, rudely told me that I owed her 14.25. I handed her the money, and asked her politely if I could please see the bill. She then yelled at me that I should leave and never come back to her restaurant. That shouldn't be a problem.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Verbally Attacked by Owner, Bad Food
best food on the haight
by sonia2
this place has excellent food, i have eaten at lots of places on haight and this by far has the best food.
pastas are excellent, risotto cakes, kebabs chocolate souflee all excellent.
it is a mediterean style menu but cant go wrong ordering anything from this. the also have some excellent wines.
i have been going to Bia's for 2 years now, il ive in the neighbourhood, its a family run business which is nice to see in these times. staff are sweet, owners are very accomadating and athmosphare is superb.
i have the most relaxing time when ieat there, i like the fact that its never too crazy busy except on sunday brunches but you have the garden to keep you happy, they have the only outdoor seating on the haight.
i highly recommend it!!!!!!!!

be wary
by ccutul
expensive, slow, unattentive. Do NOT go here with a group of 6 or more. They take your automatic tip (18%) for granted, and then don't earn it--talk about mediocre service (and we were the only ones there). Portions are small. Food is decent. Sangria is too sweet and syrupy. We chose to leave "only" 15% instead of 18% (and all cash, too boot), because the service was lousy, and the waitress demanded the full amount as a legal right. I guess she didn't feel the need to hold up her end of the 18% contract. Lousy and obnoxious!
- Pros: atmosphere
- Cons: service, price, food
best lam
by erphanerphan
This place is really romantic and old and adorable looking. Food is all organic. I always have the lamb there which is the best lamb ever. It is on Haight sreet which is a full crazy people who are always ready to jump at you. One time I was there, there was this man who came in to use their bathroom whithout being a customer. The server told him that the bathroom was for customers only and that they risk loosing their insurance if they let non-customers use their bathroom. Aparantly they had had people going in and never coming out and you can guess the rest. The man walked off swearing. I guess he had to go so badly that he forgot his manners. But I am glad that this place tries to keep this kind of people out.
- Pros: organic food
- Cons: crazy haight street

Ridiculously Rude!!!!!
by starlover
Omg I have never been treated so poorly in my life!! I was appalled by the way the the host/server treated me and my family. We entered this restaraunt hopeful because it's seem very quiet and quaint but as we walked in the server quickly place some table together tossed the menues and walked away! my parents were still outside placing some shopping bags in the trunk when suddenly the man approaches the table and states "you are so rude is this how you act at a restaraunt?" I was caught off guard and thought what is he talking about?? but before I could even say anything he stated " If your not going to eat here just leave get out!!! I coudn'nt believe this i thought I was hearing things but I grab my purse and grabbed my niece and stormed out! I will never ever ever step a foot in or near this place again!! highly do not recommend it!!
romantic spot on haight
by georgehippo
this the most romantic spot on haight. I go there once a month on Fridays after work with my boyfriend and this place is so inviting from the outside. I love the colors. The food is quit good and I love their empanadialla and rissoto cakes. The sangria is really good too. We often have a pitche between the two of us.
- Pros: romantic
- Cons: very busy neighborhood
