Awesome clam chowder and yummy bread!
by solarstorm at Citysearch
This was the second time I have been in SF and I was finally able to share this great city with my fiance. The wharf location provides a perfect escape during a fun day of sightseeing! The clam chowder and bread were amazing, we ate more than we could fit because we didn't want to leave anything! Despite the fact that this is a chain and in an area full of tourists, I highly recommend you add this stop for some yummy food, and excellent, attentive service!
- Pros: Great clam chowder, bread and excellent service!
- Cons: None
We keep going back for the burger on fresh sourdough baguette. It is the BEST burger we have ever had.

This is the first review I've written about anything, and I do it now out of simple enthusiasm. The Boudin Bistro's burger on a fresh sourdough baguette is without question the BEST burger we have ever had -- anywhere. It's not a gobble down burger. It takes me about 20-25 minutes to eat one, enjoying ever bite. It makes a big lunch. So, we keep going back, and look forward to taking out-of-town friends with us. For us, lunch is the best time to be there. We usually get there before noon (11:00-11:45). The big surprise for me is that such a pleasant and comfortable place with good food exists in the heart of the Fisherman's Wharf tourist-trap area. I first went in for a quick order at the downstairs counter, read the sign directing to the bistro upstairs, went up there and made the discovery. As one can deduce, this is a strong recommendation.
- Pros: Good food in great surroundings.
- Cons: Parking in Fisherman's Wharf area.
Go For Lunch

Nice dining room that looks out onto the bay. Food is very good and the service is great.
Only thing that is a negative is because of the location, the people watching scene is horrible. Nothing but tourists with their Alcatraz sweatshirts and fanny packs.
- Pros: Great View, Good Food
- Cons: Nothing but tourists there
unique ambiance and views make this a winner on the wharf

While the food is decent and delivery of the food was slow, this is a good choice for a meal along the wharf. This is a very cool building where the diner can see the inner workings of the bread factory through glass walls along with some excellent views of the water.
- Pros: ambiance
- Cons: slow kitchen
Great Lunch!!!
by trvlgirl at Citysearch
So we decided to head over to Boudin's and grab a Sourdough Bowl of Clam Chowder. I was surprised by this brand new building that had replaced the little building from a year before. But what the heck. We were seated at a table with an incredible view of the bay and the wharf. I must say I was sticker shocked at the price for a bowl of clam chowder. $15!!! Now if you've read my other reviews, you know i don't mind spending money on good food. I was really expecting a $5 bowl of chowder. But since we sat down already, we weren't going to go anywhere.
I ordered the regular clam chowder, he ordered the Corn Chowder. What I didn't expect or read on the menu, was that we each got a Caesar Salad with the meal. Ohhhh yummmy!!! The salad was incredible as you could tell real sardines were used to make the caesar. The salad was just about big enough to fill me up. Then the bowls came. Totally delicious even though I was a little jealous that my husband ordered the Corn Chowder. One taste of that and I about died!!!
So definitely make this a stop if you want an incredible Sourdough Bowl experience.
- Pros: Great Views, Tastey Food
- Cons: N/A
