Ouch! Morronic Chef!

by amerijudge at Citysearch

I went to this restaurant over the weekend with my friends and girlfriend. The prices were too high for the quality of the food. When the chef came from the kitchen to greet a table next to ours and overheard my girlfriend complaint about the combination on her crabcakes. He went on the defensive by questioning her if she has much experience eating crabcakes...... THIS CHEF IS A MORRON! crappy service took the rest of the experience. Well that's what I get for eating on my Pier. I know better the next time.

The truth about Bistro Boudin...

by eddiewouldgo at Citysearch

My girlfriend and I are from Los Angeles and we went up to San Francisco for the day. We heard great things about the clam chowder at Boudin so we went upstairs to the main dining room restaurant to try it out. The host, an older man in his 50's, did not even greet us but rather pointed to the menu and said in a snobish tone, "These are the prices. We are not priced the same as the cafe downstairs!" I found this extremely rude. It was raining that day and we probably didn't look like the most distinguished people, but there is no need to judge someone based upon appearance, which is what we felt this man was doing. I understand we're from LA and that my spikey hair, vintage T-shirt, faded Diesel jeans with checkered Vans might seem like the wardrobe of a hobo, but in actuality, it cost more than this guy's $200 suit from the Men's Warehouse. Either way, we were so excited to eat here that we ignored the comment and asked the guy to seat us. He took us to the very back, bypassing several empty tables by the window. We asked to sit at one of those empty tables, and he said they were not available. I thanked him but told him we would be dining elsewhere. We walked downstairs to the Cafe "express" version. Got our clam chowder and had a wonderful lunch for half the price and none of the hassle. If you want to try this place go to the Cafe Boudin located downstairs. Same food with no rude service.

worst experience ever

by kid5h at Citysearch

i went to dine at the boudin restaurant on a non busy afternoon and it was one of the most awful experiences i've ever had dinning in american. first of all, the hostess didn't take down my name and just asked me to wait for a few minutes while she took down other people's name. finally the waitress took me and my friend to some corner in the back while there were tables with comfortable seatings available. the chair was dirty with bread crumbs all over, the waitress stood and watched my friend cleaning without offering to help or switching a different table. she walked away then my friend was trying to get this waiter who passed by to see if we can seat somewhere else but he glanced in our direction and turned away. my glass was dirty so i had to ask this other waiter to get me a new one, he looked at me funny and said no it's not dirty it's just a scratch, i'll bring you a new one. it was not just A scratch. the service totally spoiled our appetite and we left the restaurant in the end. give me a break america. in the end we went to the bakery to grab a bowl of clam chowder. there was not one single clam and the soup was way too salty. don't get me started on the bad service again.
