Great soup, Small Sandwiches, Bad Attitudes

by SoupGeek234

Soup freaks has great soup, it is really overpriced, with small sandwiches. I was really thrown off by the service. The people working their give you the "Cold Shoulder." They appear to have no personality, and don't really care about how they treat their customers. I strongly suggest getting your soup to go just so you do not have to deal with their attitude.

  • Pros: Homemade soup, good location
  • Cons: Bad customer service, "Judy...attitudy"

Fantastic all-organic menu is very affordable-- great lunch spot!

by citigrl78

This place is great for a fast lunch (I like to get mine to go, and I haven?t really seen anyone eat in). Half sandwich (which is probably comparable to the size of a mcdonald's burger) is about $5-- warm organic roasted chicken on a french baguette is super-simple, but tastes SO good. They have fantastic soup (one recent one was asparagus soup?but they have about 4 others), and grab one of their cranberry walnut organic cookies! Several salads to select from?or you can get sides of your favorite veggies. I like the fresh beets as a side to my chicken sandwhich. Super-friendly service.. You can order online at www.soupfreaks dot com and pick it up in the store. There?s also a daily menu?tomato soup, matzo ball and chili are regulars. There are two locations?one at new montgomery and batter and one on pine. Enjoy!

  • Pros: Really yummy food, good price, friendly service always
  • Cons: not a popular place to eat-in, most stuff is to go.

Delicious!

by teo88

I can't believe the Best Of rating is only at 8.8! This place is GREAT. The best soups in the area--and all healthy, too. But the best part of Soup Freaks is the BEST SANDWICH I have ever had, the Freakin' Cheeseburger. Organic free-range sirloin au jus with brie on a baguette, on a bed of greens and shredded veggies. SO GOOD.

Caveats - A little pricey, and the set-up is such that it wouldn't be that pleasant to eat in--recommend take out

  • Pros: Good soup, Great sandwiches, Healthy
  • Cons: A little pricey, Don't eat in

If you know quality you'll love this food..WOW..!

by moraf

This is truely a place to go to if you want to eat great food that makes you feel great, just like their slogan says. I have been working in downtown for the last 20 years and have never seen a place like Soup Freaks. Every time I eat their food I feel great. They are fast, friendly and serve the greatest soups I have ever tasted. I also love their sandwiches and salads, which you can tell is made from real food...Soup Freaks: "thank you for making my work life a lot more joyful" :-)

Waaaay overpriced

by pologodess

I got a 1/2 turkey sandwich that was about 4 inches long for $5.75. To me, this is way overpriced considering it did not come with a side soup or salad. I guess I could have ordered 1/2 soup, 1/2 sandwich but I just didn't want to spend close to $10 on a lunch that SHOULD cost $6.00, if that. I'm not a cheap person by any means, but I do have an idea as to what food like this should cost.

  • Pros: Fresh Turkey
  • Cons: Overpriced, Small portions

$5.25 Oatmeal - Are You Kidding Me?

by peterstevens

Most expensive oatmeal I've seen outside of hotel room service. Apparently it's organic, and apparently they use steel cut - but I cant tell, since it's cooked so long that it's turned to paste. Nice dried berries for toppings, but they charge extra for them.

Salads are above average but not great.

  • Pros: organic
  • Cons: overpriced

No Canned Soup!

by jaigohel

Most soup places have canned or pre-made soup, whether you know it or not. Soup Freaks' soup is fresh. They make it every day, and you can tell! The roast sirloin and roast chicken sandwiches are fantastic, especially with the Brie. Salads are fresh. It is slightly more expensive than comparable places, but for the quality and healthiness of the food, it is worth it. Plus, good food satisfies you more than salty or filler food.

For breakfast, the oatmeal is the best kept healthy breakfast secret in the City! They make it every day and it is cooked for 8 hours, not instant milled oats.

  • Pros: Food Quality, Healthy, Fast

My mother has some explaining to do

by ccasey

I spent my life thinking I had eaten roast beef until I had the brie and roast beef sandwich. There are a lot of cooks and chefs in my life that owe me an explanation as to what I have been eating in the past. The BEST sandwich I have ever had!

The food at Soup Freaks is exquisite and to top it all off, it's organic! I can tell great painstaking attention was given to provide quality, unique pairings and an organic angle. The flavors are definite examples of this attention to details and quality with a friendly atmosphere and friendly service. Loved it and would highly recommend it to everyone I know and for companies to use for catering of events.

  • Pros: Quality Food, Great fiendly service, Organic food
  • Cons: Only one location, Size of location
