haircut review

I went into Chakra because of the great reviews I heard here, sadly, my experience was not entirely positive. My long hair was intended to get a good 6'' inch trim and cut shoulder length. Instead, I received a straight page boy bob, ala' anna wintour, who while quite fashionable, is oh so ,how shall I say?... not sexee. I guess it suits one in their 60's, which is how old I looked after. However, I will say that the staff quickly accomodated my request for a recut and I soon had a style more fitting, although still shorter style than I originally intended. I am apt to believe that the women in the salon are better suited for the job of lobbing off one's mane. they personally know the loss and anticipation inherent in the endeavor and are great stylists as well. As for the salon itself, it was too cramped, the lighting was dreadful! and I mean dreadful. Learn a lesson from Barney's or Nordstrom, woman prefer, I assume men as well, to see themselves in soft focus flattering light, especially while engaged with one's face for a few hours.

Staff Supreme

I go in with the clipper jobbie my wife gives me every month just on a lark. Holy cow! Alex fixed me up in a jiff, just in time for a big interview. Needless to say, the job is mine. Had to be the haircut because I don't even know how to boil water and I am now the head chef at Chez Panisse...go figure. Anyway, the bottom line is that everyone is friendly. Ask for the manager Mrs. Sunny if you need an instant smile. She will warm your heart with good vibes! Go deh!

• Pros: Everyone you meet when you walk in is friendly
• Cons: They don't offer overnight stays! Hahaha

Chakra Rocks

I was nervous to find a new stylist when I relocated to San Francisco. Went to one salon where they BUTCHERED my hair. I then found Thomas and he fixed me up, despite my chemically damage hair. I am now a loyal follower and he has NEVER disappointed me!

• Pros: Thomas Klann is better than a Magician
• Cons: I didn't meet Thomas earlier

Beautiful!

What a beautiful space! The salon has huge windows and I was able to sit next to one, slightly open so I could soak up the breeze as I got my hair done. The staff was super friendly and not too in your face like some other salons I've visited in SF. I was also not rushed to leave, they took their time and I really felt like they cared about the result. My hair looked amazing, and I felt great! Beautiful atmosphere and experience, will definitely be back.

Thank you Chakra for another fabulous experience! I have had my hair and facial done at Chakra for over 1 year now and every time I go there I see them getting better and better. This last time I had the best shampoo ever! They have brought in a few new stylists who seem to be far more professional and caring. And they are now focusing more and more on Aveda rituals which is awesome because I love Aveda products and am happy to see Chakra operate as a true Aveda Concept Salon and Spa. Go to Chakra if you are looking for a fantastic all-around hair and spa experience!

• Pros: Great open atmosphere. Pleasant staff.
• Cons: The customer flow can be improved.

Absolutely first class!

Absolutely first class Aveda SalonSpa. Thank you Chakra for another fabulous experience! I have been going to Chakra for over 1 year now to get my hair cut, color, and facials, and every time I go there they seem to be getting better and better. Clearly their new management knows what they are doing. They have brought in new senior stylists who are professional and caring. This last time I had the best shampoo ever! And, they are now focusing more and more on Aveda rituals which is great because I love Aveda products. I am happy to see them operate like a true Aveda Concept Salon now. Go to Chakra Salon & Spa if you are looking for an exceptional service and all-around hair and spa experience. I will return.

A Slice of Heaven

Who would have guessed that next to the Paul Frank Store a place of serenity and complete bliss would exist! I like good massage and knew that my recovery post-marathon would be much smoother if I could schedule one the day of the race. However, I become a bit overwhelmed with chain spas that cater to bridesmaid bashes; I prefer something more quiet and zen. Not knowing any spas in San Fran, I did my homework and hoped for the best.

Charka Spa was everything and more. The staff was professional and courteous. The spa is relaxing, clean, and comfortable. Clients are asked to complete a brief health questionnaire ?something that many spas do not have clients do (some may balk but I think it?s a smart idea). My therapist, Violet, gave one of the best massages I have had in a LONG time.

I am not the type to YELP or write reviews (just too damn busy!) but Charka Spa was so great and I used these reviews to find it, I felt I needed to pay it forward?I only wish it was a bit closer to my home!

Great customer service - great massage

I chose this salon from a list available without knowing anything about it, and I'm glad I chose this one out of the bunch. From the moment you enter the spa area on the 3rd floor, everything is so calm and peaceful. The massage therapist I had was great, made me feel comfortable, and gave me a GREAT massage. I will definitely return to this spa on my next trip to San Francisco.

• Cons: they just raised their prices so there are places where you can get cheaper massages

An unforgettable experience, a pampering haven, the perfect spa......Chakra.....

I've been going to Chakra for 3 years now for facials and other spa treatments......and this is by far the best in San Francisco. Currently, my esthetician is Marlo. I want to take this opportunity to recommend her services to anyone who likes to be taken care of by an experienced and freindly esthetician. She is very professional and knowledgable and ofcourse a great person.

I moved away from the city, but friends, I still drive 1 hr every 2 months....becasue I still haven't found the same level of exceptional skincare anywhere else........................
