User Reviews for Chakra Aveda SalonSpa

Chakra must be one of the top destination Salons in SF. The Salon is bright, open and beautiful. The front desk staff appear professional, courteous, and knowledgeable, and stylists are brilliant. I had my hair done with Allison and she is awesome and so meticulous. The Spa on the third floor is truly eye-catching and unique. It is homey and comfortable with very elegant and harmonious decorative touches. I have only tried a facial service (Marlo) at the Spa and found her to be amazing. Go ahead and treat yourself (or someone you love) to a wonderful experience at Chakra Salon & Spa. Prices are not cheap but definitely worth it.

My brother-in-law is a masseuse therapist, so I know a bit about techniques and quality therapists. My massage and Chakra was wonderful, I felt relaxed and refreshed afterword. The location is a little piece of heaven for those who need a treat after a busy week!

The massage therapists are really good but how come I didn't know more about the wonderful space!?!?! The gorgeous escape where you relax before your treatment is really special as well. I was so pleasantly surprised by this well-kept secret. Chakra is really unique - very professional and skilled therapists but also such a lovely, relaxing space. It's quite a welcome change from busy Union Square. If you want to treat a friend to something special, send her/him to Chakra for treatment. Plus the aveda products are fantastic.

Pros: massage therapy, GORGEOUS space

I recently ran a marathon and desperately wanted a soothing (i.e. not deep tissue) massage to loosen up my tortured legs. I got a same-day appt. with CINDY within 2 hours. CINDY was marrrrvelous! She knew exactly how much pressure to apply and as if by magic where to seek out the trouble spots. I'm not normally a big massage fan, but call me a convert now. I've signed my wife up for another treatment by CINDY. Trained in Bali, she has truly mastered the art of healing. She is the best in the planet; a consummate professional; and a joy to talk to. TWO THUMBS WAY UP!!

Pros: Wonderful sitting lounge inside Chakra; great location

Cons: Parking is always a con in SF

I am glad to see this place is doing alot better since cleaning house a year ago! Christopher Balma was the worst hairdresser at this place. Not only did he use the location for his personal use he violated the location by offering personal one on one service in the sauna room. Go figure! Thanks for the wonderful service and bringing in some new faces! :)

Pros: Cleaned House!

Great haircut, nice smelling products and nice staff. However, the only reason I would not go back is that I do not like sitting in front of full length mirrors! Also, the one big sinky "waiting" chair facing the front desk should go. It was way too comfy, um sleepy time, hi staff - watch me sleep. With some small creative changes, it would really make a big difference.

If you want to have a joyous relaxing massage to the point where you fall asleep, go to Chakra and see April. She is well trained and you will be well relaxed after your visit. Her massage is so good I go back to see her regularly. While the entrance to the spa is the hair salon and can be a bit overwhelming and bright, the staff is welcoming and the massage / spa area upstairs is quite tranquil.

Pros: Tranquil mellow atmosphere in spa

Cons: entrance to spa is through the bright noisy hair salon

I went into Chakra because of the great reviews I heard here, sadly, my experience was not entirely positive. My long hair was intended to get a good 6'' inch trim and cut shoulder length. Instead, I received a straight page boy bob, ala' anna wintour, who while quite fashionable, is oh so ,how shall I say?... not sexee. I guess it suits one in their 60's, which is how old I looked after. However, I will say that the staff quickly accomodated my request for a recut and I soon had a style more fitting, although still shorter style than I originally intended. I am apt to believe that the women in the salon are better suited for the job of lobbing off one's mane. they personally know the loss and anticipation inherent in the endeavor and are great stylists as well. As for the salon itself, it was too cramped, the lighting was dreadful! and I mean dreadful. Learn a lesson from Barney's or Nordstrom, woman prefer, I assume men as well, to see themselves in soft focus flattering light, especially while engaged with one's face for a few hours.

Pros: great hair care products

Cons: salon atmosphere

After long flight from NY, I was so exhausted, my friend recommend me to visit Chakra Salon and Spa to get a good massage. I went there, and I was so impressed by the atmosphere of the spa. It's beautiful, relaxing and everyone was so friendly. I got Deep Tissue Massage from Jay, and let me tell you, he just untied all the knots in my upper back and my neck. It's amazing :) I was so relaxed and I felt ready to start my vacation.

Pros: in the middle of everywhere

I've been going to Chakra for awhile now to get my hair done and wouldn't think of going anywhere else! You MUST see Cheyenne, he is absolutely the best!! He is a pro at coloring and cuts and my hair has never looked so good! I work at a tanning salon and our clients always ask me "Who does your hair?" It's Cheyenne ladies! Go see him!

Pros: Ambience, Excellent Staff
