Awesome Diamond Platinum Engagement Ring.
I bought my engagement ring from Goldberry. Despite purchasing a piece on a somewhat restrictive budget, Margie (the designer) treated me as if I were purchasing a $50,000 center stone.
Over the course of a couple months (this pace was of my choosing because the diamond market was in flux, and I was putting together the appropriate funds) Margie helped me truly design and create the exact piece I wanted. There wasn't a single part of this ring that I didn't personally have a hand in choosing.
Margie really goes the extra mile. While I was in New York, a couple months from actually being able to set foot in her store in San Francisco, Margie graciously spent over an hour on the phone with me. Usually, her first meeting with any client is an optional 45 minute consultation where she educates you on all-things-diamonds. Because I was stuck in New York for a bit, she volunteered to walk me through it over the phone. She did a great job. Upon my arrival in San Francisco, we met several more times. She helped me maintain the utmost secrecy (she only called at times when I knew she'd be calling, and she was very happy to conduct business through email when secrecy required such).
After all of our education, design, and research oriented discussions - it was time to put everything together. Margie flew in 3 diamonds from various parts of the world (one was from Israel, another from Canada, and I think the 3rd one was here in the US somewhere). We had a meeting setup at noon (so I could see the diamonds in natural light) and then we looked at all 3 diamonds through a tool (a device which focuses light through the stone and shows you its reflective qualities, and whether it's "losing light" through the bottom of the stone, which is bad for a stone's shiny-properties). The most expensive stone was NOT the best performing stone - and the stone I went with, amazingly, nearly matched the reference picture of a perfectly performing princess. I couldn't have been happier.
The stone was set in platinum ring, and I chose to have 14 smaller princess diamonds channel-set in the ring. Because of the flux of the diamond industry at the time of purchase, it was impossible to obtain the 14 smaller stones. However, Margie used a connection in Israel and, while offering me the same price, got me 16 stones of slightly large size!
The end product is PERFECT and one of a kind. It's spectacular, and I have a sense of pride in knowing that I had a hand in designing this piece at almost every step of the way. My fiance loves it. We now have a princess stone, in a platinum ring with 16 surrounding channel-set diamonds. All of the diamonds are D in color - and this thing is nearly blinding! She can't stop looking at it.
I can't thank Margie enough. And it doesn't end there. Just recently, Margie called to follow up - and she'd like to spend a half hour with my fiance just to have an educational discussion on diamond-care, and to tell my fiance a bit about owning/wearing her new engagement ring.
In sum: Bravo. Top notch, white-glove service, and an immaculate piece.…
I love my sea-green sapphire ring!.
Before we were engaged, my (now!) fiancee and I went to a few ring stores to scope out the goods and get a sense of what we like. Neither of us thought a diamond was the way to go, and we were hoping
for something special and unusual. I wanted to have a ring that I knew was totally unique and that I wouldn't see on everyone else's finger, but that was modern and classy. Needless to say, that is difficult to find! We never left a place with the feeling that we had seen 'the ring.' I thought it was going to be a long time before he popped the question.
So, imagine my surprise when he proposed and there it was! An exquisite rare sea green sapphire set in platinum. It is perfect. It changes color depending on the light, is certified natural with no treatment and no heat (this is important for sapphires! treatment devalues them!), a 1.65 carat cushion cut. It is absolutely beautiful and gets many oohs and ahhs. I'm so glad he found Goldberry. It was the most wonderful surprise to see the ring and know that he had picked the perfect piece for me and for our relationship.
If you are looking for an unique and gorgeous ring, Goldberry is the place to go. (It may be great for diamonds, too, but you'll have to look to the other reviewers for that) I got the pleasure of meeting Margie and seeing the showroom when I had to get the ring re-sized. The room is all white, which is a fantastic backdrop for the glittering stones, and Margie clearly loves finding special pieces.
Oh and one more great thing: I can go back and get the ring cleaned whenever I want to! This is outstanding service and I can't wait to go again and have my ring sparkle like new.…
Great Experience. I had very little idea what I was looking for when I went into Goldberry, but Margie helped me build the perfect ring for my fiancĂ©. All I knew was that I wanted a square cut diamond and gave a price range, and Margie took over from there. She showed me examples of different ring options for settings and bands, then explained how to identify a truly great diamond. By the time I left, my head was spinning but I knew exactly what I wanted after knowing nothing when I walked it. I went back to choose a diamond and a band and in a few weeks got the perfect ring that my fiancé absolutely loves- have a excellent 1.70 carat D color VVS2 clarity cushion diamond with 1.37 carats of D color VVS2 princess diamonds in the band.…
Goldberry is the best. They are great! Plus they help out my kids school!!
best place for jewelry. Margie designs her jewelry and she sources beautiful gems in creative and innovative designs
I LOVE my engamement ring!. My fiancĂ©e bought my engagement ring from Goldberry and I absolutely love it! The design is very unique and the diamond is beautiful - I get compliments on it ALL the time. Margie is very knowledgeable, has superb taste and you can always trust she'll give you an honest opinion. She takes great care of her customers and even offers lifetime free cleanings for your ring!…
timeless and unique jewlery. My fiance got a beautiful Burmese ruby from Goldberry. I love it. Its timeless and unique. The store on Sacramento Street is just as wonderful and you can get lost looking at all the stunning jewelry.
beautiful pieces and fantastic service. If you're ready to buy some beautiful jewelry, be it a diamond engagement ring or an emerald bracelet, I can't imagine going anywhere but goldberry. The quality at Tiffanys is SO overpriced - you can get such better diamonds elsewhere. Margie at goldberry gets you the whitest, biggest diamonds for the price. And she's Bob Dylan's ex-girlfriend, so you get a story too! She'll walk you through the whole procedure and spend as much time as needed teaching you about jewelry so that you can make an informed decision and get the best quality for the money. And her simple, beautiful lines are timeless. HIGHLY recommended.…
Nice Jewelry. Bottom line, I'm pleased with the ring I got for my wife, and I feel like I got a quality diamond and platinum setting at a decent price. I can, however, see why some people have written in their reviews here that they were put off by Margie's sales approach. In my experience she did a lot more talking than listening (talking "at" me, rather than conversing "with" me). But ultimately she is knowledgeable about the jewelry she sells, and the result (the ring) was nice, and fairly priced. To me, that's what was most important.…
I love goldberry. Goldberry offers exception quality jewelry and a nice selection to choose from.
