This is a great place to go with a big group or maybe with a date, but not to meet new people. The bartenders are very charming and friendly.

If you come to SF and want to hang out with chill SF locals -- this is your spot. Older than dirt, but has plently of skirt... Had the pleasure of meeting the owner, dude's name is... H. Great host!

You can't go wrong with this joint. The current owner (a guy named H) has pulled together one really cool place to hang out with friends and enjoy a few bevs.

I must say that this is one of the worst bars I have been to. Maybe the staff has changed recently, but I didn't see any of the good attributes described in some of the other posts. The bartenders were rude, did not know how to make most of the drinks we ordered and were just very slow over all. With all the bars available on Valencia street and 16th street, Elixir better shape up if they like to attract people.

I was in town only for a few days and looking for a bar that had a digestible juke box. Being 37 I grew up listening to Big Audio Dynamite, The Clash, and Fishbone- Anyway this bar had everything I could ask for in a Juke Box simply beautiful. I met the owner and he was a very very nice guy. What more could you want from a neighborhood joint. An owner who works the bar and a juke box that will tickle your goodie spots. Awesome all the way around.
Pros: non
Cons: Owner works the Bar, lots of beers, not pretentious

Ahhh.... now I'm feeling the resurrection kick in. Just after digging into one of Elixir's tasty Sunday brunch Bloody Mary bar. Do It Yourself style, with all the spicy stuff and lots of vegetable garnishings. Who needs breakfast?

This place is greatly improved since it was bought by new owners and upgraded. (Previously the bar was called Jack's Elixer and it was kind of divy.) Now the interior is beautiful with restored wood and it's also very clean inside. The drinks are good and the prices are good too. It's a nice neighborhood bar for a casual drink. Service is really good and friendly when the owner is there- but I did end up with a ditsy bartender once who didn't know how to make a black and tan- I haven't seen her in a while, maybe she's gone. Highly recommended as a neighborhood bar. A good addition to the area.
Pros: nice interior, good prices, good service

This latest addition to the Mission area is a great spot to meet a friend for a drink. The new decor makes it very cozy esp with new wood work. Happy Hr values are incredible + they have a build your own Blood Mary for Sundays. Huge beer selection and some great wines. No food -- but have menus from local restaurants.
Pros: decor, value, great service

Elixir was reopened about a year ago and has become one of the best neighborhood bars in the Mission. Check out their bloody mary bar on Sunday - it's the best in the city!
Pros: Friendly, Great drinks, Good atmosphere
