I recently visited the Nickel Spa for the second time. I was immediately greeted by Ken at the front desk. He was warm and friendly and answered every question I had. Ken got me in immediately for an appointment with expert esthetician, Margie. Margie spent the next 50 minutes giving me the Touch of Youth facial. The experience was very relaxing and my skin definitely felt rejuvinated afterward. Margie made great conversation and was an absolute joy. I can't wait to book another facial appointment with her! The place was nicely designed and very clean (even the locker rooms!!!). I also enjoyed relaxing in the steam room before and after my facial. I will DEFINITELY be back and would recommend the Nickel Spa to anyone looking for a quality spa with expert professionals.

Pros: Professionalism, Ambience, Service

Cons: None

I've been going to NIckel Spa for a few years, and I've always been very impressed with how nice the staff is, the facilities are clean, and most importantly, they give great massages! I've had a number of different therapists, but I recently tried Dennis for the first time, and he was absolutely one of the best I've ever had. He did a combination of deep tissue and reflexology (stretching), and it was exactly what I needed after having problems with my shoulder. I'd highly recommend Dennis, and Nickel in general. Plus, they now offer mimosas on Saturday and Sunday morning, so you can't beat that!!!

Pros: Location, Staff, Therapists

After a long and stressful work week, Charlie asked what problem areas I had and had me relaxed by the end of the session. He followed through the stressed area and definitely focused in and completely un-knotted my back. Ask for Charlie, he's the best!

Pros: Flexibility, Hours, Service

I've had a lot of massages over the years. And few masseurs have gotten me for a return visit. Ron at Nickel Spa for Men has got me hooked, and I would more than highly recommend a massage session with him. In addition to having great technical knowledge, he really got in synch with how I was feeling, where I hold my stress, and tailored my 90 minutes accordingly. He made a total mind/body connection with me. By the end, as the saying goes, I was putty in his hands. Ron was kind, thoughtful, and made the whole experience exceptional without all of the attitude you get at so many spas. I left feeling relaxed, rejuvinated and ready to face the world anew. I'll be back for sure.

Pros: Great massage, pleasant staff

Cons: Locker room isn't great

On a recent visit to San Francisco a friend convinced me to visit Nickel Spa with him. I had never had a massage before, personal space issues I guess. I figured it was long overdue and now know what I've been missing. Nickel Spa is great. Clean, relaxing professional enviroment with an equally professional, helpful and friendly staff. Definitely put this 1st timer at east. I was scheduled with Moe, ironically his 1st client at Nickel so it seemed to be a good match from the start. Moe was great. Easy to communicate with and and able to put up with my being somewhat uptight so I could enjoy the massage, which I did immensely and definitely wanna go back for more. it's like a little oasis and true treasure of the neighborhood. I have nothing to compare it to but know that I was not all ready to get up from the table once my time was up and feel great. Thanks for breaking this massage virgin un just right. Definitely gonna go back for more!

Pros: relaxing environment, friendly and helpful staff

Cons: locker room a bit small but not a big deal

The Best Spa Experience Ever Yesterday I strolled into Nickel Spa for Men to ask about waxing, facials, etc. Eric, the owner, was at the front desk and he was patient and carefully described all of their service. An hour later Louiza did a thorough, extremely careful, bodybuilder waxing I felt amazing and while it was supposed to take 1.5 hours she spent 3.75 hours working on me. Wow! I returned this AM for a 70 minute facial that was the best facial of my life. My skin looks amazing! While I live in LA I will make a point to return to Nickel Spa EVERYTIME I visit San Francisco on business. These folks run an exceptional business and I am now a customer for life! I strongly recommend them to any guy that wants the very best spa services possible in a cool urban San Francisco setting.

Inexplicably, I'd held onto a gift certificate to Nickel Spa for nearly four years. Can't imagine what got into me, but when I finally used it for a massage and full body scrub from the magic hands of Tyler, I was transformed. He is clearly gifted with some kind of healing powers from the gods and I will certainly be back. Eric, the manager, was also very accommodating in processing my old gift certificate, which must have been a pain after four years.

Pros: magnificent skill

Cons: not cheap

I travel constantly around the world for the work that I do. One of my favorite places to get a massage is at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. The service is incredible and the massage unbeliveable. At Nickel, every time I have gone I have have been welcomed, and escorted in to changing room, given the time to take a steam and then escorted to the massage room. Although it is does not have the same mystic the Mandarin does but they do have there own uniqness. Clean, modern, and simplistic and and awesome massage. I can not say enough about Tyler, he has such incredible energy that he uses to work my body to sublime relaxation. He reads my tensions, and he works those muscles intensly. I would highly suggest using this Spa and having Tyler massage you!

Pros: Incredible Massage

I just got back from Nickel where I had a lovely experience. I live in Chicago and was out visiting a friend in SF, who recommended Nickel when I told him that I wanted to get a massage. I called on Tuesday to make an appointment for Wednesday and they had an opening. The space is very nice. The lounge area is dimly lit and full of complimentary water, juices, and snacks, providing a very relaxing atmosphere. The locker room is small, but provides ample space to change, shower, or sit in the steam room. My therapist was Mele. He was excellent. More than just a good massage, he gave me helpful hints about how to avoid getting knots in my shoulders and tension in my hips. He also does "energy" work with you to center you. Don't let his size fool you: he has powerful hands! I'll definitely go back to Nickel and to Mele the next time I'm in town.

Pros: great atmosphere, friendly staff, professional

Cons: small locker room

Nickel Spa definitely has a new regular customer after my first experience. It was my birthday and although I called at the last minute they were extremely helpful and was able to work me in for both a 90 minute massage and facial! I love how quiet the place is when you walk in initially. Very courteous. Very prompt. Wonderful set up once you get inside with accoutrements galore, including chilled water and juices, healthy snacks, fluffy robes, and these fantastic slippers that massage your feet as you walk about. The overall place is small but what can you expect in San Francisco...IN THE CASTRO! Very good use of space. Louiza did the facial and as wonderful as my face felt afterwards, I expected to look 10 years younger, my skin certainly did! Tyler was my massage therapist for the most heavenly 90 minutes on earth. Aromatherapy, hot towels, zen-like music.....and expert hands despite his massage experience of only a few years. Truly intuitive with my muscles and the "bad spots". Overall experience was fantastic. And the best part was there was no "sales pitch" for their products and such. Very refreshing compared to other spas in the area. I'll be going back and YOU SHOULD TRY THIS PLACE OUT!

Pros: Ambience, courtesy, promptness, attentiveness.

Cons: So far, nothing.
