Great Club I never miss a visit when in town.
by nikkisimone
I loved the restaurant with the same name, and now love this club. I don't think all clubs are for all people but if you love to dance and enjoy top notch service and friendly servers, this is the place for you. I always enjoy myself no matter what the size of my group, two or ten! The drinks are good and the ambiance is just to MY liking.
I would recommend it to any visitor twenty to 30 something!

Solid house beats and attractive people!

I've been going to Pink since Day 1, and while there are the occasional hit-or-miss nights, this club consistently provides the best house beats and service in town. If you're into house, or simply into dancing your butt off amongst very attractive people, then this is definitely the spot. They're always booking great international DJ's, they've got a fantastic sound system, the drinks aren't too expensive (all things considered), the service is great and did I mention the attractive people??!! The dancefloor can get a lil hectic, especially on Fri and Sat nights, but any seasoned clubber should know how to dance in a crowded floor without spilling your drink all over you and that skanky girl next to you (unless she deserved it). It's my go-to spot for dancing when nothing else catches my eye because I know that it's always going off there!!
- Pros: Solid beats, dancing, attractive people & Olivier.
- Cons: Crowded dancefloor on the weekends.
Never had problems here but not keen on the new layout

pink was SUPER small before they opened up the area next door. unfortunately, to keep structural integrity they had to keep most of the wall in between and use a "window" area to give a feel openess (imagine a u-shaped venue; can be difficult to get to the bathroom, coatcheck or other side of the bar). they also finally upgraded their ventilation which without it, the place used to be as hot as hades. but still, on crowded nights (both fridays AND saturdays) it gets pretty sweaty in there. the music is varied and can be slightly commercial or a bit underground depending on the promoters/dj's so i recommend checking their website to be sure about the music you're getting yourself into. again, i've been a regular at pink so i never had any issues but maybe it's the french attitude that rubs people the wrong way (the owner's and many of the employees are french). the drinks are average but you can always "car-bar" it or stop by the liquor store a few yards away. all in all, try the place out since it seems to be 1 of the places to be in s.f. (btw, LOTS of attractive people attend this place)
- Pros: good dance music, attractive clientele
- Cons: can get overly crowded & hot, no real room to dance, venue layout
You probably just didn't like it 'cuz ur not cool...

Really people! It hurts me to see so much bad stuff posted about Pink. I am an SF native, and feel the need to comment. The club is TRENDY, and they will always be nice to trendy people. It's their target market, and that's how nightclubs are! I have NEVER been treated anything but top-notch at pink, from the door to the bar. They have always remembered me ever since about the 3rd time I came when the club opened and was half the size. The music is some of the best around (though, not as good since Manny and Green Gorilla Lounge left!). I mean, you're in San Francisco people! I would be hard-pressed to find a person who is dressed like SF nightlife SHOULD look who has had a bad experience here. Look at the past reviews! People post all the time on other sites about the "crowd being too young, lame, and whatnot" -- my guess is that Pink tries to avoid these types of reviews by being slightly more picky at the door. And it is all the better for those of us who frequent Pink--the crowd is hot, hot, and more hot every time.
- Pros: Great music, superior staff (one of my favorite in the city)
- Cons: Some of the nights are hit-or-miss (i.e, could be crowded one saturday, dead the next)
Separate and Non-Equal Door Policy?
by hola222
Went here on a Saturday night just as the place opened. We had a group of 7: 4 whites, 3 non-whites. The 4 white people entered first and were charged $5. The 3 non-whites were charged $10. We told the doorman that we were all one group but he stated that only "some people" get to pay $5. Who knew that this stuff happens in SF? It was such a surreal experience. We all (that is, all 7 of us) turned around and left.
- Cons: staff
Ehhhh...

The music wasn't great for me. The staff was very pretentious (except our cocktail waitress who was actually pretyty friendly and nice.) The place is really beautiful though.
Wanna Be Club

The funny thing about Pink is that the name is about all it's got going for it. I used to go here pretty often, and each time I thought maybe it would get good. The music is sub-par, the service is so ridiculously faux-pretentious, and the drinks are weak. The only reason this place stays in business is because it's open after 2 AM, but that's about the time you want to get out of there and head south of market. The Mission is a fun neighborhood, but it's not a place for a panty-waste club like this. You think I'm kidding? Haha go to the front door and check out the doorman, who is such a charicature of a snappy-dressing Euro wannabe that he could be in a movie.
Dressed in all things femme, this Mission dance destination is a haven for global-beat sophisticates.

In Short
This intimate spot is cloaked in a cacophony of saccharine hues, from fuchsia walls adorned with glittery graffiti to rosy toilet seats. Music is the real focus, though Pink can seem like an ultra lounge with its sleek clientele and steep bottle prices, which are scrawled lipstick-style on mirrors above the bar. Guests from notable clubs (like Paris' Buddha Bar) are flown in with surprisingly little fanfare.
Good place for Music
by mrolling
I love to go to Pink, except when you have to pretty much kiss the bouncer's a**... Nice ambience and good looking people all over. One of my favorite parts is the really good French beer. Ask your bartender for it!!! Good mix of music but very small dancing area. Like the fact theyre open after 2am.
If youre up to shake it and enjoy your self after waiting 10 minutes or more outside of the 16th and S. Van Ness area Pink is the place for it!!!
Pathetic Music, Bad Vibe, and Horrible Service
by anm15
I've never had a problem with people treating me poorly at clubs whether in LA, NY or SF, I'd like to think b/c I'm a classy girl who goes out a lot.
Last week, July 16, 2006, I went with 5 people and they charged a steep cover at 1:30 am.
After ordering drinks worth $21, they told me there was a $30 minimum for credit cards. So I left a tab open, but the music and scene sucked so bad we left after 30 minutes, and I forgot my card. I went back last night, about 2:30 am, and the uber-lame french doorman wouldn't let me in to pick it up!
When they opened I even had a b-day party there for 50 people. I will support a boycott of these kinds of establishments that take advantage of people. He does not belong in SF.
