Hoping to keep this secret longer

by mymymy90071

after asking for recommendations to chill out at without all the trendiness that the other bigger places have around town and just having moved here, my co-workers took to me EZ5. wow, i was impressed with the drinks, the chill loungy feel, and the cool trance and progressive tracks being thrown out by the DJ.

heard from the bartender they grabbed a couple of popular underground trance DJs. if i heard right, they should be starting to spin at monday nights starting in june.

  • Pros: DJs, Drinks, Not Crowded---a secret hideaway without the heavy prices
  • Cons: wish it were a bigger lounge

good potential

by audreyjl

A friend and I visited this place on a Wednesday after work for happy hour. It's a very cool atmosphere with great couches to lounge on and talk. The place was totally empty, which was fine for us because we weren't looking to socialize with others but if you're looking to meet people this wouldn't be the place to come. We also had read about a great happy hour appetizers they had and were a little disappointed because all they had when we went were pretzels and cheese... far from the "full spread" we'd read about. But it was fun, and the service was nice. The location is great for the financial district as well so we'll definitely be returning.

  • Pros: location, couches, atmosphere
  • Cons: empty... but not sure that's a con?

Best Kept Secret in San Francisco

by cmichaelthomas

I've been going to this little bar for about 3 years now, and I can tell you it just keeps getting better. The staff is always great and the owners are among the kindest people I know. Between the all of that, and the drink specials, their special drinks, the awesome happy snack spread, the best chicken wings in San Francisco right across the street, and their DJs -- where else do you really need to go? Nowhere. Thats where. Nowhere.

  • Pros: Awesome Ambiance and Service
  • Cons: It closes at 2am

DJs, diversity and dice fuel this alluring retro-Asian lounge.

by Contributor

In Short
Tucked on a side street at the crossroads of the Financial District and Chinatown, this bar mirrors the junction at which it sits. Chinese hipsters settle in on plush red couches and beanbags, carrying on jovial games of Chinese dice. Meanwhile, attractive Westerners mingle around the blue-lit bar and turntables where DJs spin house and hip-hop. Casual touches like a combination Ms. Pac Man-Galaga video game and baskets of Pringles keep the atmosphere chill.

Hidden gem

by phunkyphred

I visited EZ5 with a group of colleagues on an impromptu Xmas party, and we were pleasantly surprised. They have a great layout, with a DJ, good drinks, and a wicked old skool Galaga game (sit down version). It's in a random location, which makes it even more of a find.

CLUB EZ5

by benlee313

Fun place to go and relax after work, great service and at very reasonalbe price. Very diverse people and also very diverse music, there a place you can go listen at a wide variety of music. I am tired of all these bar and club just playing one kind of music, diversity is what this place has and what is so great about it. This is a nice place to go because it one of the secrets of San Francisco.

Cool Place

by corny88

OK, there is nothing super special about the place. The decor is cool, but a quick look around and you realize that its a lot of IKEA and other cheap fixes. So what? The DJs are kind of a group you feel sorry for. But you know what? There is just something cool about this semi-stylish hole in the wall being where it is (a nothing street in Chinatown) that keeps me coming back. Its the neighborhood bar trying to be trendy NY bar, and it makes for a pretty nice neighborhood bar. Well done.

Valentines day visit

by gatling

Visited EZ5 based on MSN advice and had a great time. This place, although very cool inside has zero attitude. The bartenders, esp Camille were great, friendly and poured a fine cocktail.

and it's orange inside!

by genex

Love the orange colored theme, but then again of course I do since our photography collective is called orange photography. But seriously it's tucked into a nice space off Kearny and chill beats and enough space. Haven't been on a weekend, but it was a good place to kick it on a weekday for sure.
