They got it all!

by steely1

I looove this store. It's so huge and it has such great prices. So many different things to look at and they pretty much have everything for the outdoorsy personality type. It's fun, lots of selections and a great place to shop for clothing, equipment and shoes. Sports Basement Rules!

  • Pros: Great Prices and Fun to walk around

Great low prices on sports equipment

by classicchic

I really love the great deals that I get here. I recently went in to buy a lot of camping gear, jackets, and backpacks. I was very impressed by the selection, though a little dismayed by the lack of helpful staff. I did have to go out of my way to find someone who could finally answer a question I had about a product, and they didn't seem to really know the answer anyway. I guess that's what you have to settle for when you're getting greatly reduced prices. I have to say that the product remains to be of excellent quality!

  • Pros: great product, low prices, good sales
  • Cons: lack of sufficient helpful employees on the floor

Discount mini-chain keeps runners, hikers, bikers and campers, among others, outfitted--and has a full-service bike repair shop to boot.

The Basement Has Gone Downhill

by ssbaker

The staff at the Presidio store are VERY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL, from the floor staff to the register staff. I walked around for 20 minutes without anyone asking me if I needed help. When I did ask for help, I was visually scolded by the two women for interupting their personal conversation. I will never go to this location ever! The staff at the 16th St Store run circles around them. I'm greeted at the 16th St store, and every staff person has been friendly and outgoing ---- they still have the charm of the original store.

  • Pros: 16th St Store
  • Cons: Employee Attitudes, LONG register lines, Lack of SB charm

the best place for workout gear

by funloverinsf

Sports Basement has a great selection at the lowest prices in SF and the staff is very knowledgable. They've helped me get great running shoes and perfect hiking boots. Always my first stop when I need anything for working out or for the outdoors (I've gotten super deals on fleeces and long underwear for camping, etc). It's kinda in a weird spot but parking is not an issue.

  • Pros: great selection, low prices, helpful staff
