This is the first time we eat at this restaurant. We bought a gift certificate online but the server said the certificate is no longer available. Unfortunally we cannot use the gift certificate for the food, but we still want to try the taste of the food, so we order a 3-course dinner and a filet mIgnon. The appretizer is fine, but the filet mIgnon is very small and a little bit salty and a little bit overcook. I think this entree is too expensive $28 for the overcooked salty filet mignon with salty mashed potato and spinach. The desert is fine but a little bit too sweet to me. I don't think I will go back to this restaurant for this kind of food.
Pros: parking at night
Cons: food

Soluna's is a regular favorite of ours. We get treated with 5 star service everytime we walk through the door. The owner Rick is very curtious and greets all of his guests with a smile. If he is unavailable the bartender Jack will promptly ask if you would like a table or just a drink. The food always comes seasoned well and piping hot. They don't rush you between courses and make sure your glass is always full. The wait staff is very attentive and knowledgable of the menu. The owner however is moving on in the end of January so we arent sure what is to become of one of our favorites.
Pros: Ambience, service, drinks
Cons: not open on sundays

Have visited a few times now (all dinners) and liked the food. We've always had courteous waiters - in fact, the last one we had was really funny and friendly, but very professional and attentive. When the kitchen brought out the wrong salad, he promptly got us the right one, and comped it. Most recent meal was a late night light-bites: Pear/gorgonzola salad - excellent. Lobster bisque - excellent. Crab cakes - somewhat dry. Mussels - very good. Parmesan, White Truffle Garlic Fries - good, but nothing special, and couldn't taste any truffle or garlic. The decor is really interesting and dramatic - lots of reds, neat-looking seating, beautiful lighting. Original artwork on walls. We've come before Opera performances, late night, or after visiting the Asian Art Museum across the street.

Everything that could've gone wrong went wrong. We were seated promptly but because we were seated in corner table, our waiter didn't notice us, waited over 15 minutes before we got served. I had scallops appetizer and they were burnt like as if they were just reheated; burnt on the outside and dry on the inside. I had the pork loin with a side of creamy potatoes. Pork loin was dry and luke-warm and the potatoes were still cold in the center. I informed our waiter and he just brought me another plate of the potatoes and reassured me this time he asked them to 'heat' it up warm but it was still cold again. My husband ordered the steak and it seemed odd when the waiter asked 'how warm do you want it' as we took it he meant 'how well you want it cooked' and my husband said 'medium'. His steak turned out to be slices of beef which was also luke-warm. I tried to make reservations for the night before but they were closed for a private party and with the food that night, it just led me to believe that we probably were served leftovers.
Cons: bad food, unattentive service, expensive

We were looking for a place close to the theatre prior to a performance and found this place on line. While the portions weren’t large, the taste and presentation was outstanding. The prix fix dinners are very reasonable price for a multiple course meal. The service was superb and the atmosphere causal but elegant…very romantic.
Pros: ambience, food taste and presentation
Cons: portions are a bit small

We had a birthday lunch at Soluna this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The banquette seating was comfortable and the decor was generally very attractive. The soups (tomato and vegetable) were hot and flavorful and a nice size for a lunch appetizer. The crab cakes with corn salad were delicious and the cornbread-encrusted catfish likewise. The green salad with the catfish had a little too much dressing but this was a minor complaint. We had a very nice Pinot Grigio and the $70 total (including wine and tip) seemed very appropriate. Highly recommended.
Pros: Decor, food, seating
Cons: Looks bad from outside!

The first thing you notice about Soluna is the nice ambiance and friendly service. Unfortunately, that's the last good thing about this restaurant. The food is below average at best and served in ridiculously small portions. The only plate that was half decent was the steak. I could see this being a fun place for drinks before the theater but for dinner...skip it.
Pros: ambiance, service
Cons: food quality, small portions

We were there on a Thursday night and there was a jazz band! The food was awesome. We loved how their "big plates" can be bought as "small plates" instead. Everything tasted great and it was a fun place to order a few different things and share it all. This place is also really nice, comfy and has a little bit of a gallery feel because there's a local artists' work on the walls. We'll be back.
Pros: food, dessert!!!!, music

What a find! Just off Hyde and the theatre district, Soluna looked new. It was comfortable, spotless, great service and food. We were held up by an accident on the bridge; they told us not to worry when we called, held our table, then made sure we made it well before curtain time. They rushed, we didn't. The the cuisine was both familiar and unique, well presented, staff obviously proud, excellent value. Owner very approachable, greeted diners, cared that all was well. We returned after theatre and found late diners, a 4-piece jazz group, very comfortable atmosphere. Under new ownership and management, staff said they love working there. This will be our first choice for dining in the theatre area - we will definitely recommend this to friends!
Pros: Great value, Convenient to theatre, Attentive owner

This is a welcomed chage that. The place evolves over the course of the day. Check it out as a coffee shop in the morning, lunch place or club scene. You pick. It's all good.
