This is the an exellent store. I went to buy a violin for my son yesterday. The store was busy , but the employees were very very nice!!! They tried to help each customer from how to choose a instrument to how to maintain it. The price was very reasonable!! I only paid $169 for my son's violin and it has maple back and ebony fitting. They also have a lots of books and all kind of instruments. I really love the store.
Need a piano? come here...

They have only uprights but they are all good quality, certified, refurbished and nicely priced. They have several professional pianists working there and they just sit down and play a beautiful piece for you to show you the true quality sound of their pianos. I've been in once or twice and they are always friendly and helpful. They have a lot of knick knacks and inexpensive musical instruments for kids. Perfect my daughters pre-school class.
- Pros: friendly staff, very knowledgable, special orders
- Cons: sometimes messy, some items appear used

I really like this place. It's a hidden gem in the mess of Clement St. Everytime I go in there it is loaded with kids taking lessons and people playing on instruments, and they have a very wide variety of instruments from all over the world. The best part, they are cheap. The instrument I got was a guitar and it was perfect because I have never played before and I got a whole package deal for less than 300 bucks.
I recommend this place if you want a low price, quality instrument for learning on. Hey, maybe they'll sign you up for a lesson.
- Pros: Nice folks, lots of musical stuff, great summer sale, tons of lesson space
- Cons: a little cramped at times, often the workers are very busy.
Rude, not knowledgable. Don't ask them questions - they take great offense to them!

So rude. 20 seconds into my questions about their teaching experience, I felt chastised and patronized. When searching for an instructor, you have to inquire about the level of expertise of the instructor. I asked and the woman suggested I ask the symphony for lessons. She said professional players don't give lessons. It's pretty well known to even laypeople that professionals supplement their income by teaching or just because they love music. I hated visiting the store too. Me and the other people in the store were ignored just so the only employee working could play the piano. If you are looking for lessons, don't go to them. With my two encounters with them, they've shown me that they do not care about the customer and as a music student, you need someone who will help you, not rush you.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Poor customer service. Staff is not knowledgable.
Overpriced. Poor customer service.

Everything in this store is overpriced and of inferior quality. The salespeople are unfriendly, have a bad attitude and most of them do not understand English. And the ones that do, will even agree that the in-store stock is overpriced. If you are in SF and are seeking musical equipment, it is best to shop elsewhere.
- Pros: Few.
- Cons: Poor customer service. Overpriced products.
