Wonderful Spa Day!
by ConsumerSF
I went to Tru Spa for the day and I had a Tru O2 facial, manicure and a pedicure. I enjoyed my services. My skin was peeling prior to my facial and the facial helped to calm and relax my skin. I also loved my mani and pedicure. The massages felt great and my nails looked so nice.
Overall: I had a relaxing & good time at Tru and I can't wait to come back!
Best Massage ever!!! but too expensive
by mdnb
I had the BEST massage at Tru Spa. The therapist was nice, polite and didn't talk too much during the massage (his name was Erik). The room was at the perfect tempurature. And they have a really cool lighting system... but it's pretty expensive. It's worth it if you're looking to treat yourself. All of the staff is polite and it's very clean.
best massage ive had so far
by akmarine17
a friend and i went there a couple of days ago and i had the best massage that i have had yet with diane. we also did the jungle love with c.c. and she was awesome! usually when i go to spas they like to make awkward conversation and neither diane or c.c. did that. the next time im in san francisco again (if ever) then i will definitely go there again!
- Cons: the cleaning ladies are in and out of the waiting area every minute!!! ANNOYING!!!
the most sublime spa experience in san francisco
by maddy51
the first time i experience tru was when i booked a party of 4 for my sister's bridal shower. i wasn't exactly sure what to expect. the staff helped me arranged everyone's schedules of massage, facial & mani/pedis... which was a weight off of my mind. since it is attached to the holiday inn, there is valet parking which i take advantage of each time i visit - get that vip treatment & avoid precious spa time looking for parking in chinatown. the entrance is immediately calming to ones senses, through the smells & sights & sounds. the lockers are great, along with the robes & complimentary champagne drink (if you please to indulge); their mojitos served during the pedicures are sublime as well.
i can not visit & leave without getting a massage & a pedicure... it's nearly their backbone of services. they're worth every penny & leave you feeling gorgeous & ready to pose for a fashion editorial. can you tell that i've been here before? there's a reason why- they're good!.
- Pros: you'll feel like butta after a massage
- Cons: a little pricey in comparison to other places
Great customer service, professional facials.
by brussellsf
Tru's staff is consistently pleasant and professional, they are very welcoming. Jill does very thorough facials, she does a really great job. The mani/pedis there are really good quality as well. I also enjoy the spa's product offerings and late night hours.
- Pros: great late hours
- Cons: limited pre- or post-treatment relaxation area/facilities
Best rockin massage!
by mcrocket
Came here with my beautiful daughter for a little down time. Had an amazing experience with a facial from Maria.. I have had facial's and then I have had this facial. Maria took such great care of me, and I left glowing from ear to ear, of course I had a massage with CeeCee first which might have something to do with the glow, this massage was like nothing I have ever experienced before. It was not just a massage, but like a life rejuvenating life changing experience. She seemed to read my mind, I was under such stress and she took me on a guided journey while working out my knots gently but firmly. My experiences before where always too deep, too light, too much talking, etc.. but she had to of read my mind! Everything was perfect from head to toe. This was a mind body experience that led me to an ephiany in regards to my own life. This therapist is a true healer and a truely enlightened being. Thank you for caring.
I loved the champagne, great way to start decompressing and get in the mood. Brownies, perfect.
The beautiful blue of the spa is so calming.
The cost is a bit high, but then again you pay for what you get and I did get more than my moneys worth.
Im true to TRU from here on out.
Thank you for creating an oasis with amazing therapists and pampering. I am still so high
- Pros: quality therapists
- Cons: uncomfortable sandals bring your own.
Champagne and brownies?
by msnetkova
My boyfriend and I loved this place! It was impeccably clean with friendly staff and talented massage therapists. While you wait, you can enjoy a cold glass of champagne with gourmet cheese, fruit, and rich chocolate brownies! Men get beer... I also believe that prices are reasonable for the amount of care and attention you get. Highly recommended.
- Pros: Ambiance; skilled massage therapists
Tru Love
by lilyb111
What a great place! I have been here a handful of times, a few of which i was lucky enough to get treated to through work! Their About Face is super fancy, more so that I have the budget for on a regular basis, but i did feel pampered that's for sure. I stick to their Tru02 and occassionally spring for the Tru02+ if it's been a good sales month. I've just started getting massages (was intimidated for a while to try them) and I'm so happy I did! I've found some fantastic therapists through Tru, I can't remember all of their names but both the male and female therapists were great. Also, their nail treatments are very nice, but more for a special occasion to share time with your girl friends in my opinion, we come for work sometimes and it's a good place to bring clients for sure. I tell everyone about tru because I always leave happy.
- Pros: treatments, staff, location

The Scene
With an all-white color scheme and gleaming bamboo floors, this shrine to minimalism is worlds away from the bustling Chinatown streets outside. Push through a silver-beaded curtain to the well-appointed locker room, stocked with a dizzying array of luxe beauty products. Before your treatment, unwind with a steaming-hot shower or lollygag in the waiting area while nibbling on childhood-inspired snacks, such as brownies and cheese and crackers.
The Services
Starting at a minimum 75 minutes, massages are customized to each client's needs, utilizing Swedish, deep tissue and trigger-point techniques. Follow up with the Tru O2 facial, in which a skilled esthetician deep cleanses, hydrates and purifies your skin. The unique Tropical Rainforest Room is tricked out with sprinklers that rain down warm water followed by a shower under a stream of water that gushes from the ceiling. Though facilities are elegant and serene, spa-goers looking for a whirlpool, steam room or sauna will be disappointed.
The Details
Massage, body treatments, wet treatments, facials, hair removal, sunless tanning, manicure/pedicure, waterfall shower.
most over-rated spa ever!
by spafriend
I have never written an online review for any establishment I've visited but I felt compelled to warn future clients about Tru Spa after my own harrowing experience.
My friend and I were visiting SF and were looking forward to pampering ourselves with a nice facial during our trip. No strangers to spa treatments, we were quite excited to try out the Tru02 facial based on the glowing reviews posted on City Search.
We checked in at the front desk and were later ushered into the back and given our robes and slippers to change into. The robes were stiff and extremely rough and my sandals were uncomfortable because there were various cracks all along the top. Not a great first impression but again, the glowing reviews subdued any reservations I was feeling.
My name was called and I was escorted to the treatment room by my facialist. The room was basically one bed with spa equipment hidden behind this cheap-looking gauze curtain. Instead of a dimly lit room with soothing music in the background, the room was sunlight-drenched with pop music blaring through their speaker system. Not exactly the relaxing experience I was expecting.
Despite all this, all would have been forgiven had the facial been satisfying. Needless to say, the experience was beyond disappointing. The facialist didn't even ask what type of skin I had and then proceeded to slather my face with various oils (I have combo skin, btw) and exfoliants. She didn't bother to apply a headband barrier so all the oils and creams proceeded to run down pass my hairline and into my hair. After my facial, I walk over to the mirror and realize that my face is extremely shiny and slick from the products used and my hair looks like I've dunked my head in a vat of grease!
In the end, I washed my greasy face & hair and vowed to warn others of my experience. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!
