Worst place I've been to in San Francisco.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by francisca4000

Smells of damp as soon as you walk through the door. The food was fairly good and our waitress was very friendly (hence the 1 star). But it's a bare room trying to look cool with a couple of cushions and mirrors! It's a hole trying to be pretentious with a roped off bar area which consists of some plastic cushioned bed things, and the music was bad. It's attached to what looks like a cheap hostel. The area is really bad as well and would not advise anyone to walk alone at night there.

Go if you can't find anything else open late but don't expect too much.

Slow customer service, Ripped off.

by Westside916

It was my first time at this place and it was a bad experience. We went there utilizing the lounge area for a friend's birthday gathering--we didn't go to the restaurant area. We took advantage of their online guest list system to save some money, but right when we arrived at the door they said they don't have or not received the list from their employees. They had some sort of list but didn?t even to bother to check for our names, because they claimed they never received the internet guest list. So we paid full price for about 20+ cover charges. We think it was just a way for them to make money because it was a slow night, but that?s up to the public to decide. Once in the lounge it was an okay setup?couches and beds but not large enough to accommodate large crowds. The circular bar setup seem to be logically design to serve guests from all angles, but yet another disappointment. Maybe due to inexperienced bartenders or the circular setup confuses them, but the service was very slow?especially for a slow night. We tried to make the best of it?drinking and dancing. All and all it was a disappointing experience. And you know how business goes, if they leave a bad first impressive the consumers are not likely to come back?we are definitely not coming back nor would we recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a decent bar where a few of their friends can have a good time.

Only go if you want vermon with your overpriced drinks!

by preymantid

While the atmosphere is great, the food is marginal and the service is horrible. I had my boyfriend's birthday party at the outdoor area. There were vermon running between the tables and sent a few of my guests to their chairs. The drinks are way too overpriced. When we first arrived there we went to the bar and found the bartender very unfriendly. He said there was no waiter on staff ,and we would have to walk our own drinks outside. No one else was in the entire establishment at 6pm on a Thursday. I ordered five drinks, and he took it upon himself to include his tip on my credit card for the drinks. It took him 12 minutes just to get the few drinks together. Finally a waiter showed up and said it was his first day, but his mentor was not at work yet. The only person deserving praise was the Mexican busboy, because he did most of the work.

  • Pros: Nice decorating
  • Cons: Vermon running around

Cool Atmosphere

by callie1829

I really liked this place. It doesn't get too crowded and the space is really nice. It's kinda hidden since it's in a hotel, it's nice given the area. There's no real dance floor so it's not so great for dancing. Drinks were pretty good, too.

  • Pros: Cool atmosphere
  • Cons: Neighborhood

Chiq lounge

Chiq interior with a cool patio in the back looking into a pool of motel. Nice lounge but not so good to move on the dance floor...

Yummy cocktails at a huge price

by bridgetcorreia

We booked a reservation for a bachelorette night dinner, and while the atmoshphere was nice (although I was told we'd be given a special table and instead had a simple table in the middle of the room), the food was very sparse and the service a little shady. The bartender was friendly as we waited for a table, and pulled a lily for my friend from a vase on the bar when he realized the celebratory occassion, and handed one to me and another friend. We paid the $30 bar tab for two drinks in amazement at the cost (prices are not listed on the drink menu, so beware!!), and after being seated, a woman working there told us the bartender should not have given us the flowers and took them back. We were stunned for a second time and also offended at the unprofessionalism. The oysters and crab apps were yummy, although with so many beautiful oysters available in Northern California, I was disappointed they were so meager in size. I ordered the Jakara salad and stir fry prawns off the app menu to create a custom entree, and although the prawns were great, the salad had so many chilis in eat (not mentioned on the menu), I found it unedible and gave it to my friend. 3 others ordered the bass, which was a very sparse plate of fish and asparagus, and the requested rice was never delivered. Although we agreed the atmosphere was nice for the event, the service and the food were very minimal, and we all left hungry. The bill was the only thing that was not minimal. Our lychee-tinis were $5 less than at the bar (not sure why), but at $10 a piece, the bill came to $204 dollars for 4 people! I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a great meal or if you are hungry. If you have a fat wallet to spend on really yummy cocktails and just want to hang around for the ambience, it's suitable. As for the woman who took our flowers back, that was a huge turnoff and we all felt sorry for the cute but spacey bartender.

  • Pros: Yummy cocktails, atmosphere
  • Cons: Sparse entrees, shady service, expensive cocktails

dilectable foods, atmosphere, music and people.. the short ribs have no compitition in SF... scallops mealt in your mouth and leave you in another world.

by jenniferleeofmarin

I was just there last Friday evening.. the music was perfect in volume and the fire place was inviting ladies to chat over cocktails ... love to see my girlfriends enjoy. I look around while my table of friends moan at first taste of the scallops... wow, the cook is wondrful. The deserts were all so perfect each one very diffrent and not too sweet... then my girlfriends and I slid on over to some really good dj beats. One group was having a lot of fun in the bed area.. i think it was a Hen's party. Fun. ... what a great place for the whole night.. it is like 3 spaces in one.. the front bar when you walk in.. friendly and accomidating bar tenders.. the dinning area.. the out door patio and fireplace... the lounge bar... so really it is like 4 places in one... and this is winter.. I can't wait for the summer pool parties! you'll see me there. Jen

Good food, Surprisingly Mellow Vibe

by jbsirkin

We have found our new go-to restaurant for dinner before the theater or symphony. We had dinner here with another couple and shared everything so we were able to try alot of the menu. Everything was delicious! The short ribs were especially good on a gray, rainy day. After reading some reviews on yelp and citysearch, I wasn't sure what kind of crowd to expect and had requested a quiet table. This turned out to be totally unnecessary since the restaurant only turns into a club on Friday and Saturday nights. We had a really enjoyable dinner next to a roaring fire and were able to have a conversation without screaming (a real rarity these days it seems). We will be back for sure.

  • Pros: atmosphere, food
  • Cons: neighborhood not the best, but it's the TL...

Too Trendy

by sfguitarist

It does have a cool decor and I love the pool but places like this remind me how much I am grateful for living in San Francisco and not Miami, LA or NYC. If you think this exemplifies the San Francisco scene, then you really don't understand San Francisco. This place is pretty trendy and I get the impression everyone is trying so hard to wear the latest fashion instead of being themselves - and being yourself is what is truly San Francisco. Still, it's a nice looking place with a lot of potential but, sadly, the trendy scene ruins it. Leave that attitude in Miami, not San Francisco.

  • Pros: Cool decor, Great Pool, Nice Patio
  • Cons: Too Trendy
