This place has closed its doors

After reading positive reviews and craving scrumptious kebabs, I ventured out to Gyros Kebab in the Tenderloin/Civic Center area only to find the business has closed. As of June 2006, Gyros Kebab is no more.

Mediterranean favorites in a comfortable, lofted space near the Civic Center.

Warm earth tones and a clean, two-level, sky-lit space are the draw at this small, pleasant eatery on Larkin Street. Orders are taken at the counter for a variety of Mediterranean appetizers (dolma, cacik, tabouli), refreshing soups and salads dressed with grilled meat or fish, or heavier entrees such as mousakka. A list of kebab and gyro plates features choices from traditional chicken or lamb to swordfish. Gyro and falafel wraps are also available. Desserts include rice pudding and baklava.

Great Mediterranean food, as good at grilling as in creating great moussaka and pastries. Casual friendly atmosphere good for relaxing on your own or with a few friends. Arab music or TV fits the food.
