When Lady Baltimore first disappeared from my neighborhood, I was bummed as I really enjoyed their great cakes. Quietly, Tartine came to replace it. Initially, it was quiet, the staff was friendly, and the desserts were great. However, there is a sticker shock as prices for savories like the croque monsieur were way above what the item deserved. Then, apparently, all of San Francisco discovered the place, and now it's packed all the time, apparently as it's the "in" place to be (forget about a relaxing breakfast on either weekend morning). The staff seemed to have turned from smiling to surly, the coffee is so-so, and you're lucky if you have a place to sit to enjoy your food. May be a place to get an eclair to go, but I'd rather spend my time and money elsewhere.
Pros: Desserts
Cons: , Expensive, Slow service
