No Doubt About It!!

by momo222 at Citysearch

Children'sV illage is the place for children, no doubt about it !!! My children started there as infants and I am very thankful for all the patience and love my children received from the staff. I must comment on the Avoid Infant Care statement, My experience with the infant head teacher was truly the opposite, she was helpful and full of information when ever I had a question or worry about my infant. The infant staff was very nuturing and loving. Sorry for your bad day at CV. I highly recommend CV for any family looking for a center that will embrace not only your child but your family as well. CV has great out door space, age appropriate activities, culture diversity in staff and children, monthly culture events for the families and dedicated staff, just to high lite a few of their many qualities.

Avoid Infant Care

by lauricbee at Citysearch

CV is wonderfully located in the SOMA district, close to downtown and the freeways. The facilities are clean, safe, and whimsically artistic. There are plenty of toys and activities to stimulate children. My husband and I especially love the diversity of the school, as seen in the staff, children, and school curriculum. The staff in general is very friendly and engaging EXCEPT for the head teacher of the Infant Program. She has a "chip off her shoulder" and is extremely rude. Not exactly what you would expect from a person in charge of babies. My son has completed the infant and toddler program. I don't recommend the infant program; I definitely recommend the toddler program.

  • Pros: Location, clean/safe facilities, caregiver to child ratio
  • Cons: Rude Infant Program Head Teacher

Best place to help raise your kids

by maya2003 at Citysearch

We love Childrens Village the staff is thoughtful and kind and have help develop our children. The garden and the outside space can not be found anywhere in the city. We consider ourselves very lucky to have found this day care and preschool. Our daughter has grown because of the staff and the love she gets from a very caring staff.. This is a place for parents who want to be part of a community it is not a place to just drop your kids off, it is a place to join and help . Parents know each other and care about each others kids. This is the best day care and preschool in the city.

  • Pros: outdoor space.. Good lighting, great staff
  • Cons: hard to get into the infant program

Can't imagine my children anywhere else....

by lhubbert at Citysearch

CV has been part of our family's life for over seven years. My third child is now in the infant program, and I've had two other children go through the program from the infant room through preschool. My youngest has the same teachers that my oldest had, and I believe the unprecedented staff retention is but one testament to the sense of community this school has created. Monthly cultural events on Friday evenings bring our families together to enjoy great music, fantastic food, and exposure to customs of the world. The integration of arts into the curriculum is another positive development over the past several years. The campus is decorated with beautiful sculptures and murals created by the children, and music and dance are staples of the educational curriculum. We are truly grateful to have found CV, it is a real gem of a school.

Possibly the Best in SF

by esseffmom at Citysearch

Our child has attended Children's Village for nearly five years, from nine months through preschool. I can't imagine a better environment for young children! The staff is warm and nurturing. The facilities are unparalleled -- three playgrounds (with a covered area for outdoor play when it rains), planters for the child-tended vegetable gardens, well-equipped classrooms, and warm SOMA weather. The preschool curriculum is top-knotch, with the children suggesting new topics for study each month. The location is convenient for anyone commuting to the South or East Bay or headed downtown. But the best aspect of Children's Village is the strong and diverse community. It's truly a wonderful place!

  • Pros: Staff, facilities, diversity
  • Cons: Location (for some)

Hidden Gem

by elizeba at Citysearch

CV is an amazing, diverse and vibrant community. Our son truly loves the center and we are very pleased with the education they provide him. Parents are very committed to the center and play an active role. Most recently several parents volunteered time to work with staff in order to develop an amazing outdoor play area that rivals many of SF's parks. We could not be happier

  • Pros: Diversity, Parent Involvment, Value
  • Cons: Parking Only OK
